Good Day TBNers

I thought I would post some pics of my dry creek bed and bridge. It is not completed yet but you can get an idea. I still need to go to our other farm and get the large rock steps and smaller rock to face the block.

The large rock came from our property. I rolled them down the ridge to where I could pick them up with the tractor. Two or three weigh 300lb plus. I thought I was going to have a heart attack rolling those things down the ridge:D. Once I got them going they took out 2-3 saplings on the way down.

That is really neat, I like it. Looks like a lot of work, but it will be worth it.

Can't wait to see the final pics when you're done.

Good job.

That's nice work. I have one I am working on also, but mine is a seasonal creek that just floods the north end of my property, so I am defining the waterway, so to speak.

What did you lay underneath the gravel, does water soak through this, or is it a waterproof weed stop?

Thanks for the kind words.

I used landscape fabric under the rock. I bought Preen 4' x 200' at Sams Club for $29.00 a roll. This is a good fabric, thicker than most weed block I have used in the past. The water will soak through and it is thick enough the rock did not cut it. I found the same product on sale at HD for $39.00 a roll, so I think I got a good buy at Sams. I have a couple of extra rolls to finish the project.

We had a place close to the house that due to the slope on that side we had to cut a "V" to keep water away from the basement. On the other side of the bridge is where I will put some raised beds, herb garden and greenhouse. This project is going to take a while to complete:eek::D

I actually mixed some potting soil in with the mix to give it a old "mill stone" look. Which led to other projects with a different mixture but thats a whole different thread!:(:D

just curious...
is this project just a landscape feature...or is it a functioning storm water control system?
