Where to buy creosote fence posts?

I use "Fence Coat" from Tractor Supply. Awesome stuff. Looks great when done. Covers like nobody's business & LASTS. Even says you don't have to put it on a perfect surface (my kinda stuff!). You can even spray it on if you want; They tell you all the details like tip size, etc.

You may not be able to find creosote treated posts anymore.

I would bet you any amount of money the 4" round posts i just bought at my local farm and home store are creosote (or a derivative of it) treated. they are NOT green/red PT stuff you get from the big box stores... these things smell like like old school new telephone poles! and when they were in the sun you could smell them from 10' away!

I did contact Quality fencing and they do use creosote fencing but from what I understand the general public can't but the material to soak their own wood in. They also want about $12 per foot to install a fence and I'm looking at 1,300' which is cost prohibitive and they don't sale material.

BTW, where is that horse farm?

We have a co. here in Ark that makes treated fence posts up to utility poles. They will sell direct to consumers....and are a great place to buy pine mulch.

The "old" CCA process can still be used for fence posts and utility poles and can be sold to the public. You are not going to find them at the big box stores though.

If I had the money and desire to put up a black board fence, I would use PT posts and find a sawmill to purchase 1x6 poplar boards from. I would coat the boards prior to fastening to the posts and I would use coated deck screws to secure them.
