You'll either see the opportunities pretty soon, or you'll avoid them. It depends on what kind of person you are.

It hardly counts as an act of service when it's so fun.

ok-- it's been almost a month since you posted.... :laughing:

And now it's time to hear a good story!!!

Ah, but do you hurt your arm picking up a shovel; probably not. There are Geeks and GEEKS.

I have a Geek friend who is as comfortable working on computers, cars, tractors or any kind of grunt work; all have served him very well.

Ok--- I have to admit I gave the shovel, rake, weedeater, sling blade, chainsaw, and pruning saw a try yesterday..

and I did hurt my arms, dang is it ever sore!!!!:laughing:

:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Hmmmm.. I hope this does not speak badly of me!!!:laughing::laughing:

I have a friend who used to be a developer for Microsoft. He went to the doctor for a sliver. I'm still lost on any understanding of that one.

A business associate did something like that....
he is one of those heavy heavy 6 figure kinda guys..
the sliver got in deep and he had to have surgery... so it was worse than your friend....
But this guy could type like 100 words a minute doing network configs... so a sliver would really hamper him....

I never thought about the typing issue. It was a sliver in his finger. Wasn't deep or anything though. Great guy, but that one left me scratching my head.

I suppose I might qualify as a techno geek these days...

...Since my current job is building a fiberoptic IP network spanning 182 traffic signals city wide.

Currently have somewhere aroud 200-250K feet of fiberoptic cable installed, 150 level 3 mamaged switches VLANed, programed and deployed (145 online). I have 36 fusion splices left to do on Monday to be able to patch and bring the other 5 online.

The network actually consists of a combonation of fiberoptic, DSL, and wireless connections. Mostly fiberoptic though. The wireless are the worst. Trees can play havoc when your trying to shoot the signal for 8 blocks.
