Here's a Cal. fellow that used to be a regular on here, but Have not heard from him lately. Looks like he has one Yanmar now, but may be worth a look.

Dave is a good guy. He is in Red Bluff, far northern California. Dave used to import and recondition (onsite) good used Yanmars but he now has moved up to being the western region Mahindra distributor.

I wonder if that Yanmar is one he sold originally, that he accepted as a tradein on a new Mahindra.

I think any used equipment on his lot will be excellent quality. I have spent some money there, and I recommend him.

I've been to Dave's and I was impressed. Check out that Belarus he has now- a huge AIR COOLED behemoth that would motivate your neighbors to move.

Recently I saw a YM 2002 advertised on the Sacramento, Calif. craigslist, I sent a response and got an email from Vanessa Tu, heres her address:

Van Tu
Sacto Tractors & Implements
6943 Power Inn Rd, # D
Sacramento, CA 95828

Anybody familiar with them?

answered my own question- here's a two year old post on this forum that explains a lot about Sacto tractor-

Anyone dealt with them recently?
Not real recently, but I'll stand by my 2008 post in that thread you cited. My several purchases from them, ie two new implements, renovation parts for my US Yanmar, and my RS1400 tiller, have all been good value and absolutely reliable.

About 1996(?) Vanessa and her brother left the big VN importer in Sacramento. They started their own business importing good tractors from Japan that didn't need repair or repaint, just a little buffing out to bring top dollar. Their raw imports from Japan that I saw, and the detailing in their Sacramento shop, were both first-rate in my opinion. I admire them. (And Vanessa is distractingly pretty. She could sell snow to the Eskimos. Better take a list and stick to it. :) )

I don't think you could find a better source for a clean, freshly imported Yanmar in California.

I guess I was blogging off the cuff. I was there a few weeks ago and saw the thing, but didn't ask them to start it. But, it's huge, and that air cooled engine must be loud as ****. Also, this tractor had nothing fancy, refined or shiny about it, no pretty hood, no name plate, no attempt to hide any part of the mechanics- just a big, raw machine meant to do one thing, not meant to impress you with glitz. I guess in Belarus they have better things to do than bother with any kind of marketing hype or fancy appearance. I should have made them start it, but I was just looking and not buying and didn't want to try their patience.

Thanks California. I'm going to check out Sacto tractors on your recommendation, and I'll report what I find.
