Salesman changed sale price!!!!!

I bought land in 1990; the asking piece was $105,000. I had a certified check in my hand for $85,000. Take it or leave it.
Remember the "# 1 golden rule", he who has the gold rules.
Rule # 2, refer to rule # 1.

Not always. I believe in asking a fair price for which you are willing to sell your commodity. I don't play games. If I were that seller, you'd have left with a polite "Thanks, but I don't do business that way. If I wanted 85k for the land, I would have asked 85k. Have a good day".

Here is something that might help bird, dargo and a few others.

At the time I had not committed to the Mahindra deal %100 so that is why I did not think I was obligated to follow thru with that deal. I understand what your saying and if I had made the deal for sure then a deal is a deal. Mahindra deal hinge on shipping costs from another Province. I did not explain everything in my first post in detail. I just did not want Mahindra to keep wasting their time if I was buying the Kioti.

I told every salesman I was shopping and wherever I could get the best price was where I was buying so they all knew up front what I was doing.

I edited my first post and removed dealer names.

Thanks,

I'm glad you found a tractor and dealer you like. As far as deals, the people and the product, everyone has there own way of dealing with it as a whole. It is all apart of life and we all judge from our own experiences as well as what we hear from others. Have fun playing, working...or what ever you do with your tractor.

You would never make it in my world. The seller turned down 75 k from others, 85k was more than generous. I know the man, he would steal the pennies from a dead mans eyes. Shake his hand and you had better count your fingers.
I never, ever pay the sticker price. Why pay retail when you can pay wholesale, someone is always willing to deal and I find them all over. Buy brand name $100 shoes for $50, $30 shirts for $12, $800 tv for 450.

I tip well, 20-30 % for the working stiff and I ALWAYS get top notch service.

This is a great way to sell tractors. Think these people should go back to school and take a coarse in marketing and customer relations skills. Treating people like they like to be treated should be the first thing on their minds, major or minor company. Trac

The idea is to get the salesman to go down on price, not up:D
Maybe he don't know the rules of this selling stuff?

He's supposed to start out several hundred or more higher than he can sell it for,,than he lets you talk him down and you feel good, and he makes his money,,if he don't know how to sell it,they probably don't have much anything else down pat either.

It seems like this part got lost to many in this post. I understood it after Turtle explained farther into the original discussion. I guess some missed that and felt like he did the Mahindra dealer wrong. Like he says he never had a solid deal with that dealer, that dealer could not provide a bottom line price at the time of negotiation. Bad business in my world. He did have a written deal with the Kiota dealer and made verbal commitment with the salesman before they decided they made a mistake and would not honor the deal. I don't think I would be any less upset if I had a written estimate and verbally committed to the conditions. Guess I don't understand what others here consider a done deal. That would have been it for me.

You would never make it in my world.

Well, then I'm happy. I've traveled the world and have been treated to some of the most spectacular shows and places all by companies showing me their appreciation for my training on how to sell. ;)

In my book, the lying, cheating, going back to the manager 5 times etc. are poor ways of doing business. Getting businesses and managers to simply do business the right way, the way they would want to be treated, has always resulted in tremendous increases in sales along with customer satisfaction. If your world does business differently than that, you're right, I wouldn't survive there but neither would I ever venture there.

If honesty and integrity mean nothing to you, I have nothing I can talk to you about.
