Glad to hear you found a dealer to treat you right Turtle. I go out of my way to support the people who want my business.

Here is something that might help bird, dargo and a few others.

At the time I had not committed to the Mahindra deal %100 so that is why I did not think I was obligated to follow thru with that deal. I understand what your saying and if I had made the deal for sure then a deal is a deal. Mahindra deal hinge on shipping costs from another Province. I did not explain everything in my first post in detail. I just did not want Mahindra to keep wasting their time if I was buying the Kioti.

No problem. Obviously I wasn't there so there is no way I can know exactly what happened. I'm just telling you what I've experienced in over 20 years of training salespeople, sales managers, general managers and service managers. I make it very clear to the business owner before he hires me; if a man's word is no good and has poor morals, he needs to be terminated immediately. It sounds harsh, but I charge a rather steep fee to guarantee results. I have no time nor patience for liars and cheats. The results must be acceptable to my clients. As a promise to my wife, I've limited myself to only one training per month, which is 3 days on site. As of now, I need no more clients as I'm booked as far as I want to book myself.

If I was training at that Kioti store and the salesperson and manager did try to pull a fast one on you, they'd both be unemployed that very day. As I said, my clients expect results and I guarantee results. Compressed into 3 days, I don't give second chances, especially when everyone in the dealership knows who I am and what I'm doing.

Well, then I'm happy. I've traveled the world and have been treated to some of the most spectacular shows and places all by companies showing me their appreciation for my training on how to sell. ;)

In my book, the lying, cheating, going back to the manager 5 times etc. are poor ways of doing business. Getting businesses and managers to simply do business the right way, the way they would want to be treated, has always resulted in tremendous increases in sales along with customer satisfaction. If your world does business differently than that, you're right, I wouldn't survive there but neither would I ever venture there.

If honesty and integrity mean nothing to you, I have nothing I can talk to you about.

I've been screwed too many times and have learned well. Ho, we will do this and that for you. If not in writing it means nothing. The check is in the mail. NO! Cash in hand now, no checks. Banks are the worst to deal with, always trying to get extra work done outside the contracts scope of work.
Give a fair market price and people always try to chew me down, but when they have something for sale they want top dollar.
I put a bid in on a state government job at 3-1/2 mill. Another minority bidder got the job for less than 3 mil. He calls me in as a sub contractor because he is in over his head and offers me less to complete the job than I can buy the materials for, never mind labor and profit. Another contractor tried to pick up where the first left off and hit a wall, went bankrupt. The project fell through and I was called back in a year later, re-quoted the job at 4.25 mil because I did not want to continue where he left off. Ripped out all his work and started all over again the right way. To this day I get callbacks because things do not work right, only to find that others have had their hands in things and have voided the warrantee. All my work is documented, test results, photos, inspections, if a tack is out of place I know about it. When they see the estimate for the repair they walk away. Over the years I have been called back in desperation, now the cabling looks like an explosion in a noddle factory, no fixing it. Start all over, we'll talk price, it is time and materials, just sign the check and I let you know when I am done.

You would never make it in my world. The seller turned down 75 k from others, 85k was more than generous. I know the man, he would steal the pennies from a dead mans eyes. Shake his hand and you had better count your fingers.
I never, ever pay the sticker price. Why pay retail when you can pay wholesale, someone is always willing to deal and I find them all over. Buy brand name $100 shoes for $50, $30 shirts for $12, $800 tv for 450.

I tip well, 20-30 % for the working stiff and I ALWAYS get top notch service.

I've come to think affluence has made some people soft... you can almost always tell by how a buyer makes a living...

Growing up in the car business, I would see people walk away from a deal for $20... my Grandfather would still thank them for the opportunity and they would part ways...

Used Cars were always more interesting because many tend to be unique... just how many low mileage, equipped the way you want 3 year old of a certain model are available at a given time...

New items can be bought many places... there are almost always more where that one came from.

The Internet has changed the market in a big way...

My brother was looking for a high end Honda Odyssey for his family... local dealers were all above list... and we still have car business connections.

He called a dealer 160 miles away in a agricultural community that had the model my brother wanted and was considering trading it to another dealer because he simply couldn't move it in his market...

Price and availability still dominate...

OK, then I agree with you now.:) Hope you enjoy that new tractor.

If not in writing it means nothing.

I have a little tidbit for you. Since most dealerships buy their supplies, and buyer's agreements, from the same companies, your "in writing" may mean absolutely nothing. You see, most of those contracts (and, yes, they are contracts) have a clause stating that all terms must be agreed to, and signed, by a corporate manager of the company. Very, very rarely is the sales manager on the board of directors and, therefore, able to legally bind the agreement. Just thought I'd let you know. BTW, I won't do business with dealerships who have that 'escape' clause in the fine print on the back of their buyer's order. ;)

One more update.

The National Manager for Canada Kioti called me this morning. He asked me to tell him what had happened with my bad experience so I did. After he evaluated my facts he told me the first dealership would be in contact with me and would be selling me the tractor at the agreed upon price.

Well as I had posted earlier I had already purchased a Kioti tractor from a different dealership on Saturday so I told him about that deal.

My faith in humanity is restored! Kioti was willing to make the first salesman honor his quote and I think that is what should have happened all along. I told the National Manager I had purchased a different Kioti from a different dealer and that made him very happy. He is going to let the first dealer know what transpired so I have a feeling that salesman is going to get some demerits at minimum.

I was never out to get revenge or be nasty I just wanted to buy the tractor at the quoted price. Once I did some more research and found the second dealer and he stuck to his quoted price I bought his tractor.

Was the deal you did Saturday as good as the original deal?

Well I think that is great! It would make me consider Koiti as a company to look at for future needs. Someone of authority actually responded to a consumers dissatisfaction. I find that to be rare these days. I do wonder if the discussion here on this forum came to his attention.

Not as good but still what I thought was fair.
It was a 10hp less tractor other than that same tractor but not quite as good a price taking all things into consideration.
