stocking pre made hydraulic hoses

There are some on here that try and condemn someone when they have never even tried the product, and feel their products are superior. Does that person/persons warranty their product, and just how is the warranty stated. Has that person purchased and used hoses and fittings from Northern Tools, TSC, Harbor Freight, etc. It seems like that if they don't use what they use, then they start complaining and whining about the other people. The people that like Weatherhead, or Gates, may insist they get the same manufactures hose and fittings, but the old product broke, so what does that say to the quality of parts. Has anyone seen a list of inferior hoses and fittings that warned people about the quality of parts and service. How many of the hoses and fittings on these foreign hyd machines are name brands, as we know them.

There have been at least two business, lately, that tried to introduce a product, and ran up to much opposition. Just people being people I guess.

Does Cat, Kumatsu, Daewoe, Kubota use Weatherhead or Gates on their machines? Maybe, but after a couple of years, they are probably mixed because of where the machine was when it needed a hose. So, when they bring in a busted hose, they will probably say, I want a hose and fittings like this.

My case trencher probably has 4 different brands on it, does that make it inferior to any other machine. I suggest not.

Hi Mark

so what do you typically stock? 3/8 inch hoses or 1/2 inch hoses or both
what do you do in terms of stock? what lengths do you stock or do you just purchase one hose at a time as required?

do you ever join two hoses together to make one hose?

I replaced a 3/8 hose off of a wood splitter I borrowed. I think it was 18 or 24"

Dont worry, he's bought the right to have threads & posts deleted so his secret is "safe"....

I would hope this is not happening, advertiser or not. There is a honor and integrity issue if it is happening.

While I cant say that United hose has used his "purchased power" to do so, other advertisers here have. Come to find out those same advertisers used their powers on other forums after I did some poking around, IMO I think more then advertising, they use advertiser status to keep the name clean. Like you said, I have a problem buying a product from a company like that. But like I said, to United hose's credit...they havent done such. So while I dont like the fact the specs are less then clear, I havent ruled them out as a supplier to me yet.

A serious question to United Hose.....
One thing I'd personally like is an affordable "hose end press' to make my own hoses. You got anything?

I just cant/dont stock any hoses because what I like and use is so wacky. I HATE adapter fittings, IMO just that many more joints as a potential point of leakage. For example, the last 2 hoses I bought were:
1/4" Hose 28" long
1/2 NPTM on one end
JIC 6M on the other

2nd hose was 1/4" hose, 34" long
1/2" NPTM one end
JIC 6M 45 degree on the other

Hi Dave

OEM's make the hoses on their machines the most cost effective way and that is why they used the oddball fittings. They do this because if they make 100's of machines a month and in turn purchase 1000's of hoses per month every penny counts.

i respect your opinion on adaptors and understand what you are saying about leak points.

for those that do not have an adversity to adaptors: here is what one could do:

purchase one premade 1/4 hose by 6female ends 30 inches overall length
purchase one premade 1/4 hose by 6 female ends 36 inches overall length
purchase 2 adaptors #6 male jic to 1/2 npt male straight adaptor
purchsae 1 adaptor #6 male jic to #6 male jic adaptor straight

as far as the jic male 45 degree hose fitting i believe that is not the fitting there is no such fitting. (at least not that i have heard of)

total cost for above kit around $20 plus shipping

negatives is hoses would be slightly longer than the original hoses, maybe this is critical maybe not

ps: every hose must have an adaptor attached to at least one end to connect the hose

Being a not for profit user of hydraulic hoses I have found what I needed at TSC so far.

I know a farmer up the road with a lot of heavy equipment who makes up his own hoses on the fly in his shop. This seems cheaper because he never knows what size is going to blow. I find if they are just leaking a little a rag around them will get you to the end of the day/week often.

If Unitedhose keeps his quality control like he keeps his cool he may have a decent hose.

Unitedhose may be easy deal with. he defused a timebomb in this thread. me i would have tore someone's head off. i have to check out the site. i also wish for a cheap hose end crimper. it's crazy to get hoses made around here. usually if i need a hose made i better plan on eating only ramen noodles for a couple weeks
