Has Mahindra Passed Deere in sales?

/ Has Mahindra Passed Deere in sales? #151
The Deere aficionados here seem to be much more upset by the revelation that "Mahindra is the #1 selling tractor in the world" (as stated in their advertising campaign) than Deere themselves...

again "Mahindra is the #1 selling tractor in the world"

think about it...it's a simple statement (in plain English)...there are no asterisks...

If Deere themselves were as doubting as some here...you can bet they would not be standing still and let one of their fastest growing competitors make that statement without merit...

Pine, you've missed the boat completely on us "Deere aficionados." I can guarantee not a single one of us purchased a Deere because they are/were the number one selling tractor. So I can guarantee none of us actually cares about that now either.

You're the one who seems to be the biggest fanboy here; assuming truth in advertising because no one has sued yet! Just look at your main argument.... you believe them because the sentence is easy to understand? Seriously? And for all you know, Deere has sued and/or filed the proper complaints. How would any of us know?

If anyone has acsess to the numbers and figures I would think it would be someone in a position like yours.

Obviosuly we see things are have a vibe on this kinda stuff, thus why I waved the red flag on this. However its meaningless comming from me. I think much more value can be found in Mahindra's own annual report, which gives sales figures that are unquestionably far short of being the "#1 tractor company in the world".

As far as I've always understood the largest equipment companies based on market cap are CNH, Agco, then Deere. One would never give Agco a fighting chance based on what you see in the US anymore, but South America and Europe are huge economies and they are very strong there.

Are you talking ag only?

If not Deere is larger than both CNH and Agco IIRC.

If you're going to make statements like this you might want to think about how many times you've claimed an X400/500/700 series loses 50% of its value within the first year without being able to show a single one for sale at that price point.

I can give you a half dozen links from my own inventory if you'd ask  These two sold in the last few weeks, so they are top of mind.

Used John Deere X304
Used John Deere X300

now remeber these are retail prices, what we put in them as a wholesale value would have been about half what they where new two years ago. BTW, this is not unique to the X-Series Deere models, they do tend to be the worst because of their price premium, but all high end lawn equipment has a killer depriciation curve. Includes Cub Cadet 3000's, Kubota GR's, etc. (which I sell)

Yea Ag only. Your right that CE reorders those, but I think its still the same 3 companies.. and maybe this has changed some in the last few years as the CE business fell appart?

that was a joke right?...otherwise you've got to be kidding...

I guess that could mean different things to different people. :) I think I was thinking many buy color more than looking at all options in detail?

Ag has dropped somewhat as well and I know Deere can't build backhoes and skidsteers fast enough right now so the ranks probably haven't shift.

I'm on the same page as you....But, I thought Agco was #1 followed by CNH then Deere....MF is HUGE "Everwhere Else"...dunno if its the Europeans dont mind not having a local dealer or the European operations structure and method of operations actually values its dealers...:confused2:

I did not even know John Deere is/was number one in world wide sales and as you state I don't care one way or the other. :)
