Thanks for the info, Rob. I was not aware that you could change which direction it vents. Before ordering mine, I saw some threads on here that mentioned the exhausts effects on your crops, but I figured it had to be better for the operator too! I only have 30 hours on mine, but the soot is beginning to appear on the loader. Hopefully I will have mine installed before the end of the week.

There's a big dealer in Oneonta and Syracuse with three or four other locations but I like the small guy. When I had a problem his mechanic, Dale, was at my door that afternoon. When I blew a drive shaft he called me the next day to tell me the parts were in.

My previous tractors (Deere 670 and 790...virtually the same machine except for the engine and tire sizes) both had the vertical exhaust. My current tractor, a Deere 4400, has the low mounted horizontal exhaust.
I doubt I change over, but I definitely prefer the vertical exhaust with one caveat: When that vertical pipe hits a low hanging branch, that branch can really snap back as the tractor passes by. Just something to be aware of...

I've been looking for a tractor in that size with a loader and backhoe just like you got. I must not be too far from you as I am between Delhi and Stamford. I really like the MF's at Eklunds but come from a Deere familly. We have always had good service at Del Sports. Do you mind telling me what that setup cost? A pm is fine.

I got my tractor back today with the vertical exhaust installed. I took it for a quick spin through the woods to try it out and I never smelled any fumes! I did pay attention to branches, but we have cut most of the low hanging ones. None the less, that is good advice.
Another advantage I hadn't thought of is that the exhaust stack clears out the spider webs before I get a face full of web. We have some Texas-sized spiders that build Texas-sized webs between the trees here.
