Calling in on drunks on the road

It is a shame that some people will drink and drive. It is also amazing when an intoxicated driver is arrested and they think they are totally fine to operate a motor vehicle. If you see someone you think is driving drunk by all means call it in. Don't forget there also is an increase in individuals who abuse prescription meds and then go drive. That is also dui.

I see that frequently, but when you get close enough, you find they're just talking on their cell phone.:D

I work a rotating shift, 6 to 6, days and nights. The worst time of the day for me is early in the morning about 5:30-6:00. I drive I-20 to work and back and the hazard comes from either truck drivers who are getting real tired or drunks. It's a challenge trying to pass these people when they are weaving from one lane to another. I've also reported these drivers.

Story in the Denton Record-Chronicle this morning about someone in this area also calling in on a drunk driver. That's great; good job, Harvey.

That's great that they got the drunk off the road Bird. I was also entertained by the other stories of the vehicle theft on Gregg street and the woman on Eagles Nest Court who reported a stick attack on her kid from two months earlier. The guy on Gregg street left everything but a "Help Yourself!" sign on his car.

I called in a reckless driver on the Dallas north tollway one time, must have been doing a 100 mph weaving in and out of traffic.

I think the reason people drink and drive is that once they start drinking their judgment is poor and they think they can drive fine.

Yeah, Jim, I have to read the Internet news of the Dallas Morning News and the Denton Record-Chronicle (both owned by the same company) every morning and the "Blotter" has some entertaining stories.

It's all about awareness, skill and ability. If your good you can text while driving a motorcycle, talk on the cell phone through curves in a car and be one of the safest drivers on the road.
The problem is most people are not good drivers to begin with.
Texting or cell phone use while driving a car or motorcycle would be elementary to a Jet Fighter Pilot.

A couple of months ago I was on the interstate and a woman with the usual drunk tactics (speed, swerving etc.) passed me. I called 911 (California actually posts signs encouraging you to call them in) and was talking to the dispatcher on my HANDSFREE and she hit the center divider! I don't think there was any question they got her! Fortunately, no other cars were involved.

I don't know about other states, but first time DUI here will cost you $5,000 by the time your done.

Not sure what your point is; but what percentage of people on the road are jet pilots?
I get rather testy about criticism about cell phones; why do people get so obusive; hornblowing and 1 finger waves, when I'm 4-6 feet off the roaday, talking to a client? perhaps if they worried more about their own driving the road would be a much safer place.

Every study I've read indicates that cell phone use is just a part of the problem.

The main cause of distracted driving is stil....

Fidding with the radio

Interesting point. But, out of the driving population, darn few would ever qualify to get near a fighter plane let alone become an actual pilot. Your statement says more to me about how special fighter pilots are than anything else. :) But it is an interesting observation none the less.
Dave.
