Welcome to TBN:D

The mowers are designed to be run at 540 RPM at the PTO. There is a indicator or mark on the tachometer that tells the proper RPM to achieve that.

I posted this in the attachment but I think it should go here. I have a L4330 and was wondering what rpm do most run when they are mowing with a finsih mower. I run about 2000 to 2200. Is this about right?

I always go by my Operator's Manual which is 2600 for my L5030 and 2250 for my M8540.

Some just set it where they get a good cut.

ditto that.. run at whatever rpm the tractor needs to be for the rear or mid pto to be at it's correct rpm.

My BX I run it at about 3k. Never really run it higher than that... no need to really.

Don't most of the implement manuals say run at PTO speed on the Tach? Ken Sweet

We try to avoid duplicate posts and discussions in different forums, so I merged the two here.

And as some of the others have mentioned, I always ran my tractors at the designated PTO speed when using a PTO powered implement with a big exception being the post hole auger.;)

Right, depending on conditions, if you can get a satisfactory cut with a bit lower rpm, thereby saving a little fuel and wear in the process, it certainly isn't going hurt anything. Anywhere between "I'm not bogging the mower or lugging the tractor" and the indicated PTO rpm is acceptable.

This is also another of those "matter of personal preference" type questions. ;)
