I am curious what kind of a reception one gets if they purchase a Kubota from Barlow's and take it to their local dealer for servicing.

Well, I haven't had to do that yet, but in my opinion, any professional Kubota dealership should honor Kubota's warranty without question, and provide the service on a first come first serve basis.

I would think Kubota would probably be upset to learn if anything to the contraty is happening - in the long run is may turn a buyer away from buying from Kubota if the service is lacking.

I believe a good dealer is a good dealer no matter where you buy your tractor. I did not buy my first Kubota from my present dealer, but since then have spent a lot of money there.

I do prefer to buy locally, but there comes a price point where I wouldn't.

I'm not really worried about it just like I'm not really worried about taking a car to a different dealer. I guess if there was only one close by they might try to pull something but with 5 close by at least one will want to make money off of parts and service.

One thing I didn't do is go to a local dealer and use him to answer all my questions wasting his time. I spent lots of time learning (like here) and making choices as to what's more important to me. I sat on a few different brands to get a fell for the ergonomics then I simply asked for a price and how long it would take to get what I wanted. It's how I make most large purchases.

Here's a quote from my Kubota manual: page 1.

"For service, contact the KUBOTA dealership from which you purchased your tractor OR your local KUBOTA Dealer."

From the Owners Warranty Information Guide, page 6.

"To obtain waranty service under the terms and conditions of the Kubota Limited Warranty, you must deliver the product to an authorized Kubota dealer, along with proof of purchase. <b> Kubota recommends that you take your equipment to the dealer from whom it was purchased for the warranty repair.</b> If that is inconvenient, it may be taken to any authorized Kubota dealer. However, the dealer's own customers may have priority."
