So why do you buy Kubota? Even though Roy says JD's best? :)

Geez, you turned that around on me real good ! but I did not spend much..I bought it right so no justification needed on my part....and mine is green and the other on is Blue and they both get along..they do not fight with each other in the Barn..:thumbsup:

Glad you didn't take it personally! I certainly am not trying to get nasty here!

One thing is sure, although I love my machine, I hope my "ordering" experience is not an indicator of future parts ordering in the event of a breakdown. I am still waiting on a missing part to an accessory I ordered with the tractor 3 months ago. So far, Kubota's supply chain management leaves little to be desired. If I was making money with my equipment, this would have to be a consideration. Down equipment means lost money.

If I bust a PTO internal or a bevel gear in my front end (just examples), I would not want to be down for a month.

There isn't much I won't work on myself, so this helps a little. I feel for the guys who have to take their tractor to the dealer. A slow supply chain must really wreak havoc on the mechanic's schedule and planning... further delaying the "all fixed" date.

And there's probably plenty of people in the Kioti or Mahindra forums laughing at all of us, saying JD and Kubota are both overpriced...
 I have NO doubt!

Well of course the VW convertible is just as good as the Vette...{snip}
 You are intelligent enough to put your entertaining argument together, so maybe you're smart enough to figure out what's completely wrong with it. ;)

@Brin (Bob): I still don't see where a bunch of us Kubota owners are trying to convince anyone that our tractors are better equipment. They're neither signficantly better, nor significantly worse. The "Porsche vs. VW" is a perfect example of a radical class distinction that really does not exist, despite the attempts by some to keep it alive.

@Brain55 (Brian): enjoyed your post/interesting perspective.

The best thing about getting older is that I don't give a rat's behind about what anybody says about my stuff. If I'm happy with it, who cares? My neighbor has a JD and it's great. My Kubota makes me smile every **** time I climb on it. If I let some yahoo make me question my choice, then I have the problem, not him. People like that are insecure and need to elevate themselves via possesions. Buying a BMW, JD, Porsche does not make you better than someone else no matter what they say. I admire them but my practical side says forget it.

My house came with a little Deere X300 which I still have. But when I got serious about a "real" tractor (some of you might dispute that) I read everything I could and visited the dealerships. It wasn't long before I was down to comparable green and orange models.

The orange guy spent way more time with me, figuring out what I was going to use it for, and explaining tractorz for dummies stuff with a straight face. The green guys had already taken me for a pretty good ride on parts for the mower, but continued to point out that JD had been making tractors for 120 years (even though they didn't happen to make the one they were trying to sell me). The orange tractor had a little more of what I wanted at a little better price, but they were pretty comparable.

Since I went orange I couldn't be happier, and time has borne out my opinion of both the machine and the dealer. I have rented some additional equipment from them as needed and the dealer does make the difference. I hope the guys who went green are just as happy and are treated just as well.

Hey there Art,

Your posts tend to be bland... you really oughtta try injecting a little passion from time to time.

What do ya think I need some happy faces?

+1 on that logic not quite holding water

Yeah. I've never quite understood it myself, but some people really seem to buy into the idea of exclusivity. They're more than willing to pay far more for something just because they can than for any real need to. I guess JD might profit from that tendency. I suppose if you're insanely wealthy, then OK. By all means, no matter who you are its your money. Spend it however you want. I think most of the JD owners here really are just good natured tounge-in-cheek. But I don't get the impression the JD dealer I talked to was trying to be funny.

Are we sure Deeres are more expensive? I priced a Deere 3038 before I bought my L3700SU and the price of the Kubota was a little higher.

I'm sure it depends on the model, I paid roughly the same for a 2305 as a 2660.

The Kubota I own now is not my first Kubota.Around here go to any farm, county equipment site, school property, universities, plant nurserys, etc and you will see Kubota tractors out number all other brands 6 to 10.I don't think thats by coincidence. Maybe in other regions of country(U.S.A)it is different. We are here in a corner of a peninsula(sw Fla.).
I own my Kubota because of most reasons posters on this thread have stated before me.Reliabity, performance, value, tremendous dealer support(free delivery of anything to my property upon 1 phone call)etc.Dealer is at least 30 miles away.Through out the years I have only requested maintenance related items and implements/attachments.
I own a small JD GT tractor(2004) for around the house grass cutting. It has never giving me a lick of trouble, still on original battery. One thing I think we can agree on is JD's marketing when comes to hats, shirts, collectors items, whatever, etc.I myself and never mentioned it on TBN site have some collectors items(JD)mostly that I bought at the rite price with ideas of selling to someone at a fair price down the road.Like most of us I love farm related items.
Thank the good" Lord "and the men and women who have and continually fight for freedom that we have many choices in this country.
