"Rubber Deer Road" in Northern Maine; got it's name after a would-be poacher shot a "deer" which turned out to be a warden's decoy.

In southeastern Oregon we have "Dead Indian Memorial Highway", which I think is a candidate for most politically incorrect road name.

I used to turkey hunt on a dead end gravel road named ""African American" Shanty Road". I've made it politically correct, the real name however was not (started with an N  . Not sure what the meaning was, but it's since been renamed.

They just put in a new road in my area that is called ...... New Road:thumbsup:
Also Have Little Rock Road, Snow Road, Wardens' Road (named for the maker not the patroller:eek:), Lots of politically incorrect aboriginal or "native peoples" roads, rivers etc.
The one I always like was ***** Road on which a a common family name was ----- Dicks:eek:

With the implementation of the 911 system years ago...the county now provides signs for all the roads (many of which are really shared driveways)...and the county allowed the residents to name the previously un-named roads...I'm sure other places do the same...

Recently there was a blurb in the local paper about tourists stealing signs with unique names..."Possum Trot" was one that was mentioned...as well as 'Slop Bucket Road'

they (911 implementation crew)named ours "Private 101 Road"

Will they re-name it once it's old?
It is probably going to be renamed shortly -- they named it new to differentiate it from the old road until the old road was decommissioned -- I think they probably lost the new road sign a few times though!

We were rafting down in the Carolinas a few weeks ago and a very popular T-shirt had this on the back:

Paddle Faster... I hear banjo music!

I don't know how many times we saw adults trying to explain it to young folks, but it was quite humorous to see the generation gap hard at work for those of us that remember that movie and those who's parents would probably not let them watch it until they were 30! :)
