Clutch on HST

I would rather have a clutch & not need it, than need a clutch and not have one. That was the only aspect of my B3030 i did not like, no clutch pedel.

I am curious what you use a clutch for since we have similar tractors though mine is the older 30 Series.

It is a quick way to kill the PTO if your used to haveing a clutch.

I was glad I had a clutch when I bush hogged a cut-down ~5" diameter tree trunk I couldn't see laying down in the tall weeds (on my new property I'm unfamiliar with) that was jarring the absolute h3ll out of the rotary cutter & even the tractor. My first reaction was to push the clutch in, which worked well.

I now try to also make sure my right hand is ready at all times to quickly lift the cutter with the 3ph lever.

At work we have a one year old 40 something hp Kubota tractor. Sorry I don't know the model. This tractor has an HST transmission. I don't run it very often, but when I do I always wonder what purpose does the clutch serve. I'am sure there is a reason for it to operate this tractor properly.
Thanks, eddy

I am use to operating tractors on which pushing the clutch doesn't effect the PTO, so I am use to disengaging the PTO lever and raising the 3 point.

I drive several different tractors, so I do what works on all of them. If I try to change now at my age, I may just wind up staring out the window while my tractor comes apart:eek:

I use it to start up, shift ranges, engage 4 wd, engage pto, etc.
