I believe that my BX24 has 24 horses at the rear PTO. I am looking at a PTO generator and the one I really want requires 30. Do you think it will work OK?? What say everyone.

I think we have less than 17 HP at the PTO, sorry to say. No it won't be ok, a generator requiring 30 HP will cause the BX24 engine to stall when the generator is a little over half load KW-wise.

You are right, I just looked it like 17.2. I guess that is definately out of the question then. Thanks

I doubt it has 24 PTO HP. It certainly would not be able to achieve the full output of the generator. Unless it is an incredible deal I would look for a correctly sized generator.

You can run a larger generator than your PTO HP will handle no problem, just don't load it beyond what the tractor will handle.
Might not hurt to buy a little big in case you get a more powerful tractor someday.
The common rule of thumb is about 2HP per KW...so your 17.2 PTO HP will drive a generator to about 9KW. Even if it is a 20KW generator you can still drive it with the BX just don't expect over 9KW out of it....
