No longer about Kubota purchasing but personal finance decisions. One of you guys need to start a personal tractor finance thread and take each other on there.

It is also not up to the usual standards of cordiality, no one appreciates being lectured or essentially told they are stupid.

Seriously? This thread is 18 pages now, I'm surprised it hasn't changed topics several times. The people contributing must still have an interest or it would have died already, so who cares if it is off topic.

Random comments on the "financial discussion":

I agree with some parts of what each of you has said. i.e., I don't like to have payments on anything either, and usually try to avoid them/pay off loans early. But I will take a 0 interest loan all day long, because even a measly 1% interest earned on the cash invested elsewhere is a net gain.

Even "losing" the $1000 cash rebate, I still made about $3200 (before taxes) in 3 years by taking the KCC deal. :thumbsup: I'm no financial genius and even I could figure this one out.

My letter from Kubota at the end of my loan term says (and I quote) "...is released and we have terminated your UCC filing (evidence of lien)."
Saying the UCC interest filing is not the same thing as a lien, is like saying manslaughter is not the same thing as homicide. Think the dead stiff gives a crap what you want to label it?

Remember, after applying the "internet conversion factor", 20% ROI claimed in an online forum equals about 5% ROI in real life.

Having said my piece, can we take the financial planning discussion elsewhere? I only made a point of the 0D/0% thing in the context of Kubota "pros", not to start a cat fight.

The posters concern about the "lien" was that other local people would "know" or could easily find out that the tractor was financed and that bothered him. That is not the case with a UCC filing as there is no title with a lienholder's name on it. In fact, UCC filings are so useless that tractors with UCC filings are sold (illegally) all the time to unsuspecting buyers.

I actually cut and pasted my year to date portfolio summary for the account in question upthread to avoid questions such as yours, it was at 17% over 7 months. Guess you didn't see it. But as you say, even 5% on the money is much more than the cash discount offered by Kubota on a 20K tractor.

I suppose that's a valid point, however... the lender (e.g., KCC) isn't going to just forget that somebody owes them a paid loan. Theoretically, you could do whatever you want with the tractor, but you're still on the hook for the payments.

No, I saw it. I do try to practice what I preach, in this case "Read Before Posting." But to be honest, the formatting didn't lend itself to being very readable, and it wasn't worth the effort to me to try to decipher and digest it.
I know you're proud of it, and I guess I should say something, so uh... Congratulations.
