Dear sirs;
I briefly considered the short skirt and leg crossover manuever, but then realized the potential for sunburn and reconsidered. Please be advised I will continue to make wide turns, so please park your vehicles accordingly. As always, I will close my eyes when when close to distractions to keep my rows even.

I always enjoy pics, but we can skip it this time:DDave

3r,I can assure you and all on TBN that as a 61 year old man with multiple sclerosis I would never hurt anyone.I just got to thinking of my situation,I can hardly press the one pedal anymore and I laugh at my self and in my mind I was thinking it's not possible for me at all.I've always tried to make a smile come to peoples faces at my expense.I just want all of you to know this site has been great and If I can be of help or possibly make someone laugh.I'd NEVER ever try to be rude or crude,I honestly thought it was funny, right or wrong. My postings have been mostly on what I would see as humor and contribute my [wisdom] when possible. At 61 with a farm back ground I have learned a few things. With this hopefully behind us I look forward to reading more of your excelent posts, even though you drive a bota, well several:laughing:Dave

In my defense, I also drive Ford, John Deere, Case, and Massey Ferguson though not too much any more.:)

At 63 and declining health/physical abilities, I kind of know your situation and find the ability to laugh invaluable. I have to clutch with my right foot and engage/disengage 4WD with my cane and a rope. I have to use the Shuttle Shift with my right hand by going through the spokes or over the wheel, so people who see me and don't know me are scratching their heads and wondering if maybe I have bees in the cab.

I also have a farming background, but like to eat on a regular basis, so I got out at a fairly early age and can now do it for enjoyment. My wife is an enormous help and has pretty much taken over the 2660 and sometimes bush hogs with the L5030 when I am on the M8540 or spraying herbicides.

When I was in the ER over forty years ago, I pretty much made a commitment not to complain if I lived and have focused on what I could do and not what I can't. Four years ago someone pulled out in front of me totaling my vehicle; thought I was a goner again, but made it through that one too. I figure I am way ahead of the game and consider myself as blessed every day. No complaints from this old man.

I've never seen a tractor with breaks on the left hand side? Would be very bizarre to begin with and I don't know I'd want to trust my left foot with breaking in an emergency.

The MF135 and it's cousins all had left foot clutch right foot accellerator and brakes.

Many tractors didn't even have foot pedal accellerators - all you had is the hand throttle.

And personally, driving (real :licking:) ag tractors every day, I never touch the foot throttle all day, just use the hand throttle normally in the arm rest. No bumping of the throttle on bumpy ground then.

But then again, I normally take my boots off in the cab and rest my feet annd socks on the front wind screen ledge. Brake pedals aren't really needed these days with exhaust braking and powershift transmissions.

Also, just for the record, split brakes are something that pretty much went out the window in real tractors when 4wd came in, sure most tractors still have them and they are normally left unlatched, but they make so little difference with 4wd engaged, and when it's not engaged, it just tears up the grass.

Only time I ever use them is when I'm working on some scary steep banks and you have to keep the nose of the tractor pointing up hill a bit to maintain positive traction so you don't slide down to the bottom.

Split breaks are also very handy when your on the steep stuff, and when you feel the uphill wheel lift - you nail the downhill brake, and the nose of the tractor will come around, you drive to the bottom and continue on your way :D Thats why we leave them unlocked unless on the road.

My tractor has three break pedals. One on the right operating both breaks. Two on the left for left and right break that can be either tied together or pressed separately. Another thing about hydro is that you need breaks very seldom. The hydraulic motor will, if not carefull, stop the tractor so fast that you would fall of the seat. Therefore it makes a sense to place the split breaks on the left and hydro pedal on the right or have three pedal like my tractor.
Somebody said that you don't need split breaks on four wheeled drive tractors. Well when it gets muddy in Iowa you would love to have them. The mud is more slippery than snow.

I use the split brakes on my JD3720 and JD2355.
1. plowing snow
2. field work, in deep soft dirt occasionally the front tires will just push, even with front drive
3. Oregon clay mud
4. crabbing a slope on grass

It certainly isn't very often but enough to not want a tractor without them.
Although I agree with a previous poster that they were almost useless on the JD855 in dirt, but they did work with snow.

The Kobota foot pedal layout was a deciding factor in dropping them from my short list on my last tractor purchase. Excellent equipment otherwise.
