... Because someone who smokes doesn't get cancer doesn't mean it's safe anymore than someone who survives a car crash without seat belts means it's safe to drive without them...

Guess I may as well throw my two cents in. I wear a seatbelt ever since I put my head through my buddies windshield when he rear ended a parked SUV 18 years ago. My wife wears hers and so do all my kids. When I was a cop I spent three years writing tickets to people for not wearing them.

I've also smoked for 19 years and don't see a quit date anywhere in site. 7

And I love my gears. 7

this thread was originally about seat belts.. it morphed into some back and forth diatribe about smoking... got to be a pretty heavy back and forth debat.

Normally when I see a heated debate like this it is about gear or HST trannies... thus I made the comment about gear or hst trannies.

then another poster, noticing the humor I was interjecting made a comment and ran with it on the hst/gear joke I made.. and then asked what was the hst/gear better at.. plowing.. etc.

since the entire purpose of my post was to interject humor about the topic of smoking in a safety belt thread.. I made the comment that 'it was better for smoking' Ie.. the specific trans type one had.

that's it.. I'm done with this thread..

Safer. Unless the tractor does not have a ROPS or said ROPS is not in use, then no seat belt.

I have channel surfed into some goofy reality TV show about two or three guys farming. The first time I surfed into the show one of the guys was putting ribbons on goats....

The next time, and hopefully LAST time, I surfed into the show, one guy was giving the goat decorating guy a "class" on how to safely drive a tractor. The ROPS was down to get it out of the bar. First thing the "teacher" guy said was to put on your seat belt.:laughing: I think the tractor was a Kubota and it looked new. I am sure it had to be HST since those guys could not handle a REAL tractor. A real tractor is a gear tractor. :thumbsup::laughing: But since it was a new tractor there had to be close to a Gazzilion ROPS/seat belt safety stickers... Then they went and drove a course with hay bales as traffic cones. This was only about 10-15 seconds of real time but it was 10-15 seconds lost from my life.

Note: Gear vs HST is an inside joke referring to TBN discussions that can be heated but somewhat fun.

Gear tractors just SMOKE HST tractors! :laughing::laughing:

im happy that the tractor has no seat belts, nothing worse then after jumping off a tractor finding out if you had of stayed on you wouldnt be around. as far as driving the truck i wont wear it if im travel a few concessions but anymore then that i throw it on.

far as gear or hst if i wear to be doing alot of loader work like loading bales or manure i would really like the hst but everything else just over rules that little bit
