By the way that "thumb" on your 485 is the cats meow ! Steve likes very much :) I bought a 4 in 1 bucket and didn't even think about buying one of those wish I did !

Thanks Steve,
I think you can add one if you have a 2010 485 and an 18" bucket.

Hi Burple,
I have the 485 BH on my 3320 which Deere shows as an option for the 3000/4000 series tractors (open cab only on the 3x20 series). I've had smaller hoes on other Deere models and the 485 is quite a beefy hoe. I paid about $8,400.00, maybe a little less if I remember without the tooth bar, so it's not cheap but worth it for what I do.

Rob

Thanks for the info Rob. That thumb is a great idea. I can see lots of uses for it.

To anyone who is still having trouble getting this adjustment made correctly:
On my 3720 and 375 hoe, I was adjusting the rod to make the arms lift the hoe onto the tractor further (higher), in order to get the one-inch pins in. Once adjusted properly to mount the hoe, then using the 3-pt for implements, the arms would travel too far and the relief valve would open. I got used to this situation and knew enough to move the 3-pt lever downward a little to keep it off the relief valve. But I worried about other operators on the tractor, if they didn't recognize the relief valve sound and ran it around a while that way, overheating the hydraulic system. So I tried again and again to adjust the rod on the 3-pt, and the brackets on the hoe, but no combination ensured proper hoe attachment without opening the relief valve. So I finally took off the little sliding brackets from the hoe, added a 1/8" thick layer of metal to the underside half-moon shape area of them that the 3-point arm pins contact, by welding it in and grinding it nice everywhere, and repainting. Now it all works great. The 3-pt can be adjusted so it is not in the relief valve, but the arms lift the hoe plenty high enough since I added that extra layer of metal to take up space.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info. I had thought about doing something like this for my 485 hoe but I took it off before i could check the lower pins to make sure they wouldn't hit the top of the mounting bracket and create stress. I have the log splitter on now but I'll try to see if I can utilize your method when I go to put the hoe back on.

Thanks again,
Rob
