Kubota B21
Greetings folks. New to the forum although been reading it for some time in anticipation of getting my new (to me) Kubota B21 (1300 hrs). I took delivery last week and spent the entire time since getting rid of rust spots and doing some touch up painting. You know how it is, I want it look like it's sorta new even though it's not.

Yesterday I took it for a drive down a two mile gravel road that winds through the valley I live in, not far from Folsom, CA. It'll be my job to help maintain this road. I wanted to get used to the feel of the box, throttle, FEL, HST, all that stuff. For a while there I put the box down to confirm that with the road so hard and dry this time of year, it would indeed bounce along the top and not do much. It performed exactly as I expected!

The neighbor calls me up this evening and said he found a six inch bolt and bushing laying in the road and heard I was down there yesterday tooling around with my tractor. A little disconcerting, I've been out there this evening with a flashlight trying to spot where a bolt that big might have fallen from. So far, no luck. Tomorrow I'll head over to his house to pick up the bolt and see what it looks like and then do some more searching under the tractor when it's daylight and I can see better and won't mind getting a bit dirty. If I'm lucky, the bolt fell off some truck or something and not from my precious tractor. Fingers crossed.

I know, it didn't happen if I didn't take pics. Tractor pics and avatar coming soon.

just a (super) wild guess...if it did indeed come off your machine...it might have been "resting" in the drawbar? though it seems like you would have noticed it...

I would inquire if the bolt etc. had any paint, oil etc...?

The pictures will definitely help. So will daylight.

If the bolt is not threaded and is a pin it may have been a pin from the 3 PH. Sometimes bushings are used to adapt Cat. 0, 1, 2, implements.

It sound like you don't have a BH attachment but if you do there are pins all over the place on them.

So I stopped by the neighbor's today and picked up the bolt. Then it hit me, it was from my tractor but....for reason someone stuck this long bolt with a bushing into one of the holes on my box scraper mounting bracket before it was delivered to me. I remember wondering what the heck it was used for since it looked out of place. Now I see that it was never bolted on to begin with. Somebody stuck it there temporarily, intending to use it for something else. I'm glad about that. Wasted my time thinking about it all day at work today when I could'a been thinking about something else, like food, or....

Anyhow, here are pics of the new trakacher....

Glad you found the origin of the bolt! Nice machine too!

Nice, I also bought a b21 tlb and spent about 40hr painting and servicing, loved working on it and servicing it almost more that using it. I also mounted a fire ext. on it also. built a thumb for the backhoe and even though it was a rental unit and quite beat up, everthing worked perfect. Does not leak a drop of fluid. tough to beat a kubota. I have not been able to post any pictures yet.

I'm very pleased with the B21 and I'm really hard to please. I have also spent a good amount of time restoring some of the shine. Mine was used in construction but it was well taken care of. It belonged to a friend of the local Kubota dealer and he did a thorough check for me as well as changing all the fluids and lubrication.

Next up is to put a chain saw holder on it. There are several threads here that illustrate some good methods. Still working on where I can fit a small toolbox on it.

Afterward, I need to build a car port for the tractor, just to baby it a little. Sure will be glad when it rains around here a little so I can get out there and move some major dirt.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Good that you found where the bolt came from ...
BUT it's GREAT that you have neighbors that actually pay attention to whats going on around them... and is concerned enough about your stuff to let you know that there may be a problem... Extra points to a good neighbor... KennyV
