Thoughts on this tractor?

A lot of people will recommend 4wd regardless of use. You really need to determine your needs and what your budget is. I've got two tractors one is a JD5103 2wd with FEL. Does everything I ask it to do. I also have an older PK 14HP with FEL. For it's size it works very well also. With it I do have to keep the front tires inflated more than the other but with it I can use the FEL ok. Best thing I could say is try it out and see if the owner will let you move a couple of mounds of dirt to see how it handles. As to the Branson I've done some reading on it and it seems to be capable machine. Size for size a bit lighter than an equivilant sized JD. Dealer support is most important with any brand.

Spend some time reading in the Branson's section... I would guess you would not abuse the machine and it would out last you... but it depends on what the other owner did It's a BIG tractor... a work horse... sometimes they can be too big. Do you have trees that you have to mow around? I am guessing that this is a gear tractor instead of HST... if it wide open mowing, it will work but if you have to shift gears a bunch, it gets tiring...

*The prices of used tractors vary with different parts of the country.

*Some members can/will recommend a particular dealer to use/avoid - and this advise can be very useful.

*Different areas also have their own issues. "Hilly" can describe land in Florida as well as Iowa, but these two places are quite different. In Florida, you will not need a snow plow but Iowa does not have near as many swamps.

I would not be scared of the Branson. I own a 5530C and my neighbor owns a 4720i ... the only parts I have needed was an a/c pulley, filters and the dealer had them available.

Nice heavy powerfull tractors ...

I live in Maryland Suburbs....snow = yes, though not terrible. Hills = not really at least on my property.

Closest dealer is accross state line in PA about 40 miles away...Deutz Boys.

My uncle has a Branson about the same size as that one, but with a cab, and swears by it. He works it hard in logging and snow removal and has had no problems that I'm aware of. And the price seems pretty good too.
