I usually keep my tractor in my shop and equipment under an open shed. Since we moved to our new house, the wife has taken up the entire garage with her car, golf cart and miscellaneous STUFF that she has not unpacked yet. I had to park my truck in my shop, so the tractor got relegated to under the side shed. It's not out of the late afternoon sun but it is out of all the other weather and sun damage. I just need to clear the garage out before I buy my new tractor which will for sure house in the shop so I have to get my truck back in the garage where it belongs. It is looking more and more like my lower covered patio deck is going to become a lawn mower and golf cart parking area rather than a patio. Since it is roofed and 44 feet long, maybe I can squeeze in a couple of pieces of patio furniture if I need to. I just about have the top deck full already. If I get it all arranged properly, I may have room for some MORE STUFF.

Last winter - outside (under a tarp). this winter - in my new 24' X 24' garage! It will be so nice to just drive it in, shut it off, and walk out the door. (Same with my ATV - no more covering it and then having to brush off the snow every time I arrive at the cottage.)

Life is so good.:dance1:

My stuff is no longer gonna be outside. I have a whole bay in the new barn to park my machines. :D:D:D

The garage is attached to the house and the heat losses from house keep it above 60 most of the time. The house and garage are made of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and are equivalent to R50. The ceiling is R55. The garage door is R11 and between the house and the garage is R11. I average $30/month heating and cooling.

WHAT? $30 a month to heat and cool what? You must have meant $300, if not I'm moving next door to you. I average $700 a month and my tractors do not have a heated garage. I am in the middle of building a nice shed for the two of them. Couldn't even imagine what I would be paying if I had to heat that too.

It is about $30 a month. This was data from 10 to 15 years ago, and of course it has gone up some. I am not including my base electric (to run hotwater, pump, lights, etc.) which was about $100. The house is 3500 square feet. The ICF manufacturer guarantees a 75% reduction in heating and cooling versus conventional construction. It does cost about 6% more to build.
I installed solar panels for heating hot water last year and my summer bills have dropped about $70 per month.

WOW! That's great. I can't imagine why all homes aren't built with that product. I will definitely keep it in mind. I hope to build my next home myself, if I can find a nice enough piece of property. Not a lot to choose from up here. Anyway, that is a huge savings. Enjoy it.

The tractor sits in your basic pole barn - very cold in winter and very hot in summer. When a big snow is coming, we get the usual 7-day advance hype from TV or radio giving me plenty of time to consider swapping the truck to the barn and the Kubota w/blower to the attached garage for easy out. Hope I remember to lower the ROPS a bit.
