Outside storage for attatchments: How to keep the weeds down?

One of the local high schools was replacing the turf on their football field this year. They gave away the old stuff to anyone who could haul it away. The rolls are super heavy because of the rubber and sand infill and do have lines on parts, but they make a pretty durable weed mat to park implements on.

Two options I have used are old roofing shingles laid out with some overlap. I also use around the ground for deer blinds as hard to mow in those areas.

Also have used large pieces of old carpet which are easier to lay down. For both shingles and carpet weeds will die off but ants like to live under them along with other insects.

The property which I bought, the guy who'd bought it before me, he had lived on the property for I believe it was about 3-4 years. Then, he had to leave the property for a few years, and things just grew-and-grew, where we'd not prefer. But, before he'd taken off for that vacant few years, he'd had a pallet of 40# concrete bags delivered, and that had gotten left laying in the grass.
That pallet pile of those concrete bags, then turned into a bunch of big concrete 'bricks' by rain. Those could then be used as big nice uniform 'rocks'.
If you cannot currently afford a proper concrete pad to be built, see if you could lay out a 'somewhat smooth' pile of those concrete bags, get them wet and cured to become some big 'bricks' for you.
Then you can set your items on top of the 'bricks', keeping them technically a bit up and out of the dirt. You can just trim around the bit of weeds that may grow, much easier than if they're just laying on the ground.
It's not the most attractive solution, but it may be a better peace of mind, knowing you're not constantly putting a bunch of undesired chemicals on your ground.

Like many, I need to store some of my attachments outside. Problem is, keeping the weeds down around them, especially the ones you don't use very often.

Does anyone have any unique ideas for keeping the weeds at bay?

Landscape fabric is far too weak. Round up or other herbacides are a pain as you need to keep applying them.

A big concrete pad would be nice, but too expensive.

I've tried using big heavy livestock rubber matts, but they too are expensive and hard to find used reasonably priced ones.

Any other thoughts?
You could try cardboard boxes, laid flat they work good at killing weeds.

TSC is about the only place I buy weed killer as the local hardware and big box only small sizes at big prices.

What is bad about TSC?
Buddy, you're a year+ behind the times, and need to keep up on companies that likely hate what you stand for...
Make sure you're spending your hard-earned money at businesses, that don't think you're the 'bad guy', or promote other groups who say you are.

Edit: Now, I see that you're in Austria, and this wouldn't relate to you. Hopefully, you have better retailers there.

Maybe cheap corrogated roofing tin from Lowes/Home Depot.

3/4" thick 4' x 6' horse stall mats - level the area out first and if you are working by yourself - drill 2 holes at one or both ends about shoulder width apart - use a spade bit - makes them very easy to move around using hay hooks - we've used this for years especially under equipment like zero turns that make a mess of limerock or sand. Also gives a solid surface to work on in case you need to do any maintenance.

I don’t like to spray chems but……

I bought a jug several years ago and spray twice a year, first in spring as soon as green up starts and in mid season to keep ground clean. I use a 15 gal sprayer at about 40 oz of chemical per session.
Will keep area bare for about 6 mos at a time.

PS
Price on chemical has doubled but still provides good burn and residual coverage. Also, I despise TSC management and the direction they are going!
This stuff works!...Got tired of the watered down Round Up from Menards.

I have some used pressure treated plywood from a project tear down. It's rough but in tact. I plan to put it on pallets scavenged from my local small box hardware store. I'll make an attachment "row" that I can back the tractor up to, and cover with tarps.
