10K winch on trailer questions

Here's what I made for my trailer. The box is attached to a 2" draw bar so I can move the winch to my truck receiver, or just remove it altogether.

Nice job! I was going to suggest a tool box arrangement, but you beat me to it with one on steroids!

+1 for battery on trailer (just remember to keep it charged).

Nice build. I especially like the lights. I've been debating about adding work lights to my trailer somehow. I now know how to do it.

I have a winch on my tilt trailer. The winch draws more amps than the charge lead wire to the plug can handle so I installed a battery in the trailer box to absorb the load. That way the charge lead wire can keep the trailer battery topped off while driving. I also installed a circuit breaker on the feed for the charge lead wire instead of a fuse.

Yes, the CB resets automatically within a few seconds when its overloaded. I bought it at Advance Auto but I'm sure others must carry them as well. I went with a CB because even with a battery on the trailer using the winch under heavy load would blow the fuse. I figured a CB was safer than buying a box of extra fuses.

Tomorrow is the test trying to load a 1960's era car.

Anybody ever winched a car or truck up onto a deckover trailer??
How well did it work?? I have drove and used chain hoist to get many cars and trucks on a normal car hauler but never up on a deckover...

Only a few hundred times some didn't even have wheels 8K ramsey to the truck bat. On larger loads I use a doubler block.

Haven't winched up on a deckover but have winched up dead vehicles on my tilt bed trailer (see avatar). I'm guessing its a 15-20 degree angle.

Car was winched up and down off my GN deckover with no problems at all. Used a Deep Cycle battery to power the winch and it all worked great.

Glad it worked out for you. Nice having the trailer fully self sufficient. I may be **** but I have my winch set up like yours and also a tool box with a extra tail light, bottle jack, 4 way lug wrench, 8 straps, 4 T hooks, 4 Mini J hooks, 4 10' chains and binders, ect. I want to be able to hook up and go in a hurry, not be looking around for all my supplies.
