Skid Steer Dual Attachment???

Seems like they don't do it, but I'd like to get a skid steer and be able to have a mower in the back, any way to do that?
I've got a Kubota L3600 that I use for tree work/weedabatement. I've got a flail mower on the back and a grapple bucket on the front. Tractor is getting old, and in my perfect world I'd like to get a Kubota SLV 90 skid steer with a grapple bucket, and have a detachable vrisimo flail on the back.
Would like to do this to have more power, more maneuverability, and smaller size.
So is there any possibility in this? Maybe a different kind of skid steer than the one mentioned above?

about towing with a skid steer

It has been done, I beleive i saw it in farm show last year.


The newest Kubota tracked skid loader was over 42 thousand USD+tax

from what I remember.


There is an attachment that hooks to the quick hitch a fifth wheel

that allows you to tow implements with the skid steer and it is a boom

that is up and over the skid steer to the back side.

Made a few mods to the front cylinders and can lift 2500-3000 lbs. Smooth riding independant suspension. Hi-flow, hydraulic bob-tach, 3 rear hydraulic outlets radio. Who could want anything more?

The toolcat thing looks nice, but I don't know. Does it turn like a skid steer? That's one of the main things I like about the skid steers, I work in a forested area, sharp turning is good!
Also, the work we do needs high power mowers and buckets, that's why I was looking for more power, like a 75-100hp skid steer.
I'm not ruling it out, it just doesn't look like a real heavy duty machine, but I could be wrong, I'll look into it.

Also, what is the towing thing mentioned above, I'm not sure if I'm understanding?

I have been thinking about at track loader also but I wouldn't buy one thinking I was going to use it like a tractor. You just can't see what is going on behind you. If you want a flail take a look at this, it a Bobcat brand. YouTube - Bobcat Flail Cutters The only problem is the cost, new there about 10,000 for the cutter. But you can get front mount rotary for less than 5,000 and cut more.

How fast can you switch out a flail mower to a grapple bucket on those things? Thinking of doing that maybe, but don't know if it's practical because I'd have to do it mulitiple times a day at certain times.

The tool cat uses limited hydraulic power for its rotary implements.

The toolcat brakes are electric and the unit has a hydrostatic transmission with wheel motors.

ASV offered a tracked loader with rear 3pt. Not sure if they still do.

I like Kubota, but I would look at ASV, then CAT, then Bobcat myself...

Oh, and as much as I really really like the tracked loaders, they are expensive, as are the implements. They can outperform most tractors for most task in regards to utility function. But... a wheeled tractor is usually much less expensive, as are 3pt attachments.

Another thing, my Buddies Bobcat S185 is a 6000lb machine... Most skidsteer/tracked loaders are heavy compared to most wheeled tractors. My NH TC40D is only about 4500lbs with loaded tires, and front loader.

It is too bad, noone makes a CUT with tracks. Keep the loader, keep the 3pt with PTO, but tracks...

I run a 72" rotary cutter on the front of my skid steer. It will cut up to 3" trees/brush and probably bigger if I wanted to push it. When using the rotary there is not much reason for me to have a grapple bucket mounted at the same time. There is little left to pick-up, but splinters. I also run a front mounted saw that will cut approximately 14" trees and up to 28" if you work the tree from multiple sides. With the saw the bucket is necessary to clear and pile trees. Changing from the saw to the bucket is a 2 to 3 minute job and would be quicker with the hydraulic quick hitch versus my lever hitch. With strategic placement of the hydraulic hoses to couple/uncouple I never leave the cab of my skid steer.

I can't imagine having something hanging from the back of the skid steer would be handy. It would completely negate the skids turning ability due to whacking trees and other obstuctions every time you turned quickly in tight areas.

The only advantage I see to have 2 tools mounted would be you would have the tools with you if you traveled some distance. My cutting is generally done in a pretty localized area, and I can haul my saw in the bucket when traveling some distance. A rear mount tool definitely would eliminate the need for rear weights.

Toolcat does not articulate in the middle. They are 4 wheel steer but can be converted to 2 wheel steer or crab steer by pushing a switch.

Not sure what you mean by "uses front end loader arms for low payload weight"? TC is rated a 1500 lbs but well known to lift up to 2000 lbs full height. Above 2000 lbs is getting into a big frame skid steer.

PTO power is hydraulic. The power is the same as running an attachment driven by a skid steer hydraulic with the same gpm. Hydraulic power is not as efficient as a direct drive PTO of a CUT.

A loaded TC with 3 pt is about the same price as a JD 4520 with cab and loaded with options.
