The toolcat thing looks nice, but I don't know. Does it turn like a skid steer? That's one of the main things I like about the skid steers, I work in a forested area, sharp turning is good!
Also, the work we do needs high power mowers and buckets, that's why I was looking for more power, like a 75-100hp skid steer.
I'm not ruling it out, it just doesn't look like a real heavy duty machine, but I could be wrong, I'll look into it.
Also, what is the towing thing mentioned above, I'm not sure if I'm understanding?
Thanks guys!
Nothing turns as tight as a skidsteer. I have had a Bobcat 873 and S300. A Toolcat (TC) will turn tighter than a CUT. It is just a flip of a lever to go forward or backward. Like a power reverser on CUT but smoother.
Max hi-flow on a TC is 27 gpm. A larger skid steer could higher flow and thus more power to the attachment. TC is only 56 hp.
The boom arms on a TC are not a strong as a skid steer. Digging or lifting with corner of a bucket on TC could twist the boom. I did tweak my lift arm once. I put on bigger lift and tilt cylinders and probably can lift near 3000 lbs. Tried lifting a culvert out of the ground with the end tooth of the 66" bucket. Twisted it slightly. Didn't know it until set it down on cement. Twisted it back by lifting with the other end of the bucket.
The lift height of a TC is also only 84".
I would say with the exception of the boom, a TC is more heavy duty overall than a CUT. The bottom of the machine is much more protected but not as protected as a skid steer. A log or heavy branch could cause some damage to a TC and never harm a SS. I will say my TC is a better digger than a SS of the same size but my 873 and S300 will outdig my TC just due to the physical size.
