Why is the JD 3005 less expensive than a 2320?

One thing I noticed while looking at the Deere site and I haven't seen much mention of the tractor on the site but the 3005 seems much cheaper than say a 2320 even and much much cheaper than the rest of the 3 series.

I am sure there's a reason and I haven't really compared the specs side by side.

The 3 series stuff is more than need anyhow especially in overall weight and size of the machine. It's not huge but a little big for my needs and would limit my use a little on smaller properties.

But why is the 3005 a lot cheaper. Deere's site has it listed stock (No Imps) less than 11,000 dollars.

I should go to the DOT site and run a comparison but I thought asking here might be ok too.

It seems that maybe the 770 (790, 3005) was a little too close to the 870 or they simply wanted an additional step in the model line-up.

The 870 has a lot more in common with the 990 then the 770 or 790.

Lift capacity is dependent on hydraulic cylinder size, hydraulic system pressure, and the leverage involved with the machine's attachments. The 790 has a bit of a low pressure system, but it is easily boosted and is commonly done.................The tractor is a nice size and a lot of bag for the buck if you like it. But as KU Gator says, the hydrostatic has a big advantage over the sliding gear manual transmission.

Well said, I did the shim kit in the relief valve & it made the tractor (mine was the 790) much more useable; I also had the rear tires filled with Rim Guard, another great idea with this particular model as traction is usually your limiting factor with any of the CUT's. I can't say how much the shim trick increased the 3 point capacity, it handled everything I had for attachments. I know I was able to lift a 1/2 pallet (1000lbs plus the weight of the pallet maybe another 30-40lbs) of wood pellets with the loader & HLA fork set-up (not to full height by any means, but enough to move around from place to place) after the shim kit (don't forget the rear ballast if you are going to attempt this much weight!). Great little tractor, it will really surprise you!

Was that supposed to mean something?

Either his cat walked across the keys or it's more internet abbreviation speak that actually does mean something to people with pink blackberries and a twitter account.

I ordered a 2320 today Roy. I know it's small compared to some of the stuff you guys have, but it's all I need. It'll be here Thursday.

Right on.!!

Though I find them to be a bit pricey, I do think the 2x20 series is perfect for the homeowner.

Really nice tractor. Congrats.
