If the value of the US dollar does drop by 20% internationally will the factory/dealers eat most of this to keep volume up or pass it on and accept a lower volume do you think?

It the $40K new imported tractor actually rises to $48K over the next few years will this not also inflate the value of used tractors as well?

.... 'Price' is fluid. Example: I bought a Mercedes SUV made in Alabama.. in Canada when the $CDN was 15% below the $USD*. Because of an internal agreement within Mercedes, I was unable to buy new. My ML320 was purchased 30 days after the new model year with about 15,000 kilometers on the odometer (still have not changed it to miles?!) I pocketed both the depreciation and exchange rate. As it was 'Made in USA' there were no import duties. CDN safety standards are higher than US: no issue there, so it cost about $150 and 45min in Buffalo for me to make it legal.

The catch: Mercedes Canada could not simply add 15% atop of an already expensive vehicle (this was 2001) within this market of 20mil people.

Yet, I got caught in an inflation storm at home in the early 70's. I was connected to the boat business, working for SAIL Magazine. There was a particular 40 sailboat from FL (forget the brand..) that sold for the mid-20's ...a year or two later is was $40-60k and ultimately climbed into the low $100s. Have to remember tho' ..when I got out of the Army in the 60's, I made $3.52 an hour (Union wage) on a concrete gang... and lived pretty well for a single man.

*I wasn't the only one .. there was an angry border trade of US dealers running to CDN auctions buying Dodge Minivans, etc. and switching out the speedos. I gather it caused a ruckus to the point where mfrgs. stated the warrantees would not cross. ... at 160,000k I still get any open upgrades if I take it to the dealer. (not usually)
