Who builds JD Compact Tractors?

Hi,

On 11/08/2010, I posted: "The tractor's engine is a Japanese-built 24 HP Yanmar, and both the CX-200 FEL and the 260 back hoe were manufactured in Canada." Part of that statement is incorrect... namely the origin of the backhoe unit.

I had my 2008/9? JD 2305 TLB out yesterday, and while cleaning it up after digging in the damp Sierra Nevada red clay, I noticed that the I.D. plate on the backhoe unit itself read "Made In U.S.A."

I crawled under the tractor to see if I could find a similar I.D. plate on the hydro, but I didn't see one. Others have posted that their hydros came from Germany. Is there an I.D. plate somewhere on the hydro, and if there is, where is it located?

It appears that the frame and Yanmar engine came from Osaka, Japan as a unit.

I can't recall from where I heard that the 3320 eHydro was made in Germany, but the JD technical manual says the pump and motor are made by Sauer-Danfoss. An Internet search does show this to be a global company headquartered in Germany the best I can tell.

After looking at their manufactring locations, I now think the hyrdro may be made in the US at their Ames, Iowa site. If I get a chance, I will look for a tag on my 3320 tomorrow.

Regarding the hydro....I heard one dealer say that the entire frame and drivetrain were shipped from Yanmar (Osaka Japan) as an assembly. Unlike some other items I've listed previously (frame & engine from Osaka), I can not verify this with regard to the hydro. We must be careful what we believe from dealers/salesman as they are often incorrect (no implication of intentional dishonesty inferred), as more than one dealer has told me the 2000 series tractors were made by Deere....most of us here know that is untrue as they are assembled here by Deere from assemblies mostly produced by others.

Pretty awesome when you think about it....people all over the world, probably never having met and probably unable to communicate with each other directly (language barriers) and such a nice :tractor: comes from this!

Cocre, keep us posted if you are able to shed some light on this (find a plate or other i.d. marks etc.)

I found the tag on the hydro for my 3320. It is located on the lower right side of the hydro pump which is up inside of a casting with an open bottom. It says Sauer-Danfoss, Made in U.S.A. along with a model and serial number.

Settles that for me. I can take a picture if needed.

Pictures are always fun.....but, I believe you sir!

In my list of what is made where on page 3 of this thread, I mentioned under the 2000 series that I do not know where transmission is made....wonder if that one is Sauer-Danfoss also? If anyone knows, please share.

I'll be getting my 2720 in a week or two (I hope) and will look for plate/I.D. as well.
