I hadn't checked the price for the kit. That is steep. I literally know zip about hydraulics...other than they let you do some really cool stuff.

I did get the rear SCVs installed on my JD 3038e. I was thinking they would be fine for running the grapple until I saw that video. But apparently you need the kit to upgrade your loader stick to have a true third function. Am I wrong?

Whatever you decide to do, please let us know.

I think the power beyond sleeve is what gives true third function capability (anyone?). I suppose that would leave some room for doing it with a separate valve, especially since I have a dual-lever loader control.

Thanks everyone for all the ideas and help......keep it coming!!!!

The fluid from the grapple out port should go back to the 3pt. The tank port on the FEL valve should go to tank, as this is now expended fluid from the cylinders.

The grapple valve that you purchase, should have full pressure limits on both the input and output ports, as the 3pt circuit may develop high pressure.

Alright....that was WAY helpful, and just what I needed to gain some kind of half-witted understanding of how she works. I think with just a little bit more help I'll be able to do this........

Thanks so much, I was not gonna get very far on my own with this. I'm still interested to hear any advice; especially from anyone who has the third function kit from everything attachments installed on their machine.

Yes....but I don't know what that means:ashamed:

Detent means that the valve will stay in the detent position until you set it to neutral, and probably is not a good valve for grapple operations.

Did you want a manual valve or solenoid operated valve using a switch on the handle?
