Snow Blade I picked up a piece of truck retread...now what?

Another good use for re-tread is for a dnow deflector across the top IF you have a truck plow. Tractors dont really go fast enough to benifit though.

As I posted in another thread, my blade is a ATV blade that I had quick attach plates welded on, so my blade is only 10-12" tall. Do you think this would still be the case, or should I put it on there anyway for deep snow?

It may keep some snow from comming over the top if that is what you are asking. But typically with an ATV, due to the small blade, side spillage is the problem.

What they are on the trucks for is to keep the light powdery snow from "blowing" back upand onto the windshield due to going much faster. Whih still happens a little with the deflector, just not as bad.

I found a sweet piece if semi truck retread on my way to work today. I figured I could mount it on the bottom of the cutting edge of my snow blade, the question is...How do I cut it? I was thinking sawzall because of the steel belting, but what do you guys think?

I have an old car tire that i use as a bumper on the pallet forks.
To avoid rain water collecting in it I drilled 5 2 inch diameter holes clean through the tread with a hole saw.
Just about no smoking/burning, but the cut out discs were hard to handle with the embedded wire.

So, I would go for a sawzall with a blade that has same/similar teeth to a regular general purpose hole saw - mine happen to be Blu-Mol.

The lights got whacked by low branches as I tried to reclaim the edges of our field from the encroaching woods. Sitting high on the broad, flat fenders the lights are really exposed branch magnets. In one of those encounters my eye glasses got plucked from my face - never did find them. I bought replacement light fixtures to mount in the bends of the ROP frame, where they will be a little better protected and a little better placed for visibility - just haven't got around to it. It will get done when I do the ROP work light bar this Fall/Winter.

I got it cut to lenth and mounted on the blade. I used a sawzall with a Bosch Progressor blade that I had in the box. I'll post some pics when it's all painted and good to go!

Simple rule of thumb. Three teeth in contact at any time. If you are cutting wire core, you might want to use an abrasive blade. A band saw might cut though it, but you've pretty well put it in the garbage.

That does not work so well when cutting a tire. We've all seen what a tire does when you do a burnout Same thing here. It will smoke up a shop in no time.
