I'm checking out the log splitter from NorthernTool. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience hooking this up to a BX23 and what I might need or run into?

Thanks!!

I am also checking out the 13 ton model for my BX25, from what I saw it had decent reviews and people were pretty happy with it even though the cycle time may be a little slow but it splits in both directions to make up for that.

I spent all morning looking through the posts on hooking up splitters in general and the only think I am a little confused on is which 2 of the 3 hydraulic lines I hook into on the back, I am guessing the supply and the PB and the middle one just stays capped.

Oh! I didn't even realize they had 2 models! :D
So what determines which size you should get? 13 vs 20 ton?

Oh I see now. Cylinder size is bigger, so it can do larger cut logs. Cool, I can go with the smaller one.

So from what I read then, I just need to get some hoses made and just hook them into my two hydraulic connections for the BH. Simple! Oh, anyone know what size connectors I need to connect to the BX23?
Hey look, I found that too! ISO 7241 series B.

Ok, last question, anyone know a good place to get the hoses made? (and what type of hose?)

Thanks!

Any industrial hose supply in your area....They make air, hydrualic hoses on the spot...Just bring them your fittings...

You can order hoses from Surplus Center online, by the foot, 3000# 3/8 lines will be fine. Make sure you order correct thread for the splitter 1/2 with 3/8 reducer bushings, I think, and the other end to fit your couplings

Should be PB and a return line I think...Check your manual or your service center..

BTW, where in NH???

Most auto parts stores can make them. Check around to get the best price. If you go with the smaller splitter it will speed up your cycle times. You may not be able to split a log down the middle but I would expect you can just split off quarters until it's small enough.

It splits 28" oak down the middle fine...
