Cyril, I think if you let your John Deere use a self feeder, it might not get so heavy and wide! At least that worked for my dogs!

I still have to order bolts for the duels. I put them up against it to get measurements for ordering bolts, then I decided to get pix. I didn't do any width measurements today, but last time I tried fitting one I took some measurements and if I remember correctly it should be just over 9 feet wide. As long as I'm around 9 feet I'll be OK. My shop door is only 10 feet wide.

I started a thread on the duels and will post measurements on that thread after I get them attached in a week or so.

I would go for a genset with an oil watch.

I think tractors left unattended for many hours running flat out is not a good idea in case of a problem - of course if you are going to sit in seat all the time then that is another matter!

I also think there is an overhead of hydraulic pumps running unnecessarily with a tractor wasting fuel, even on a non-hydro - so gen set will be cheaper to run.

Finally, gensets will automatically adjust to keep power output steady through peaks and troughs in demand.

if your hyds are not being used on the tractor then they just arn't drawing very much.

you think a tractor doesn't have a governor built into it's injection pump? ( or a standard governor for a gasser? ) they do!

if they come on that frame and have a pto shaft, I'd say they are a real good deal. hard to find a 16k at less than that, with 3pt carrier and shaft. northern is the next closest...

The units on that site look very similar to the IMD unit I have. IMD is a TBN sponsor out of Greer, SC. I ordered directly from IMD and paid around $1350 for a 10kw AVR unit with a pto shaft and that exact frame. The folks at IMD were top notch to deal with.

The units at SSB Tractor look so similar, identical really, that it makes me wonder if they are buying them from IMD and reselling them. The top picture on the SSB page looks identical to the 31kw IMD unit

You could give IMD a call and get a price on the unit you are looking at. I suspect you might be able to save some money. If you tell them you found out about them on TBN, they give you a bit of a discount.
