1foot of snow this weekend - blower didn't let me down but had to use improvised clothing as had to blow my way in to the cottage where my gear is stored. A cab would be nice....

I've been holding off on showing my winter setup as I was waiting to receive my new snow pusher. While I like the snow blower for long runs, I really prefer a front plow for the large parking areas.

You'll notice I have the Pull-type blower where you drive over the snow and the blower scrapes up and blows it out of the way. It saves on the neck strain and cleans up the driveway really well.

We just got our first snow around Georgian Bay and you can see the ground isn't yet frozen. I've got the skid shoes set up as high as possible to save the gravel but it's so much easier once everything's frozen up.

Have a good season everyone!

John

How well does the pull type blower work? I'd be concerned that the tires would pack the snow too much. Especially the wet heavy snows.

Regardless, nice gear:thumbsup:

I understand the concern about packing down the snow by driving over it first but the blower is quite heavy and scrapes up ALL the snow leaving only the frozen ground or ice behind. Last winter, the heavy wet snow seemed to be the only type we got and my driveway never looked so good.

So from my experience it's a good setup that I'd recommend as long as you don't typically get really deep snows that your tractor can't bull it's way through.

Here is one of "my" snow weapons. (Well, it is partially mine. Our taxes paid for it...;))

I like those wheels they use instead of the skids.

Looked to me like the wheels wouldn't last long on the streets and highways.

Maybe like mine, only there to support the blade when it is off?

I assume the bag on the blade and the bows are for "parade" ready showing. :D

The wheels are instead of the skid shoes(think that's what they are called). In the city here they use them an all the city plow trucks I've seen. I would think they wouldn't last long either because the roads are pretty rough around here but that is what they use.

I guess it's time to say "I'm ready for snow !"

I finally finished adding to my rear blade, first the angle cylinder and rear remote, and today the skid shoes. They're painted and drying, these were taken before paint.

Shoes are 3/8 plate, dished about 3/4 inch in the center. 1 inch rod through 1.25 schedule 160 pipe.
