flat faced quick disconnects issues

Have any of u had problems with these lasting? I am on my second set now. first set i just plugged in and went, second set I cleaned every time I used them, Even kept a rag in the skid steer to do it.

The first set just started leaking and wouldnt stop. This time it is the female coupler and it will not lock onto the male without smacking it with a block of wood, which at the cost of the components is not acceptable. There dosent seem to be way to service or clean these. At 80.00 for the female connector I am starting not to like these.

Anyone have any other experience with them or advice on how to get them to last?

First of all, why are you paying $80 just for the female connector? Are you using a larger than normal size? ISO 16028 flat face couplers with 1/2" (nominal size) bodies, the most common size, are readily available for about $50 per set.

We sell at least a dozen sets a week here, and we haven't seen any more problems with these than with any other couplers.

Our most common complaint with any coupler has been "they leak" and almost every time, the leak disappears as soon as we flush them out on our pressuring testing equipment.

Some of the manufactures off rebuild kits for the QD's. That does seem kind of steep for the flat face connectors. Some people also go the next larger size to compensate for the reduction in flow. If you shop around, you can fine them with a great price difference. Did you particular want flat face QD's? Yes, they are easier to keep clean, and no, they all do not all connect under pressure.

After reading this thread I did a bit of pricing around and you are right I was getting hosed.

I never could find them anywhere but my local hydro shop. Called the company who sold me my skid steer and they had them for 30ish for the female connector.

Seriously the hydro shop down the road from mom and dads hit me for 80.00 pluss some tax for one female connector little over a year ago. We were broke down because of the fitting and I had to do something.

I had seen them on ebay cheap but figured they were not as good as the last one I had bought. Glad my dealer has them and takes care of us.

I am sure the hydro shop has a flow tester but what are they gonna charge to put it on.

I didnt especially want this style connector but it is what my loader uses.

We use them at work and are not impressed. We have seen these be bad right out of the box - brand new. On more than one occasion we have seen them go bad on the return line which blocked the flow and promptly blew the seals out of the valve we use in our equipment. On a couple of instances it bent the spools in the valve. The old round ball fittings were cheaper and lasted much longer. I highly recommend changing out to those.

Not meaning any disrespect there is just alot of cheap crap out there and alot of it is on ebay. Can us send me a link to one of yours? I like buying off of stand up folks. Gonna need spares just in case this one goes out.

That would be great except my $35,000 machine has them built in. I could tear all that out, but I am not ready to start that kind of mods to this machine.
