Kubota MX5100
I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

I am on my second Kubota. My first was a L3400. Great little tractor, I wish I had both. The newer machine is a MX5100. I traded up to the 5100, so I could feed large round bales. The 3400 just was a little too light.

After much reading, a am installing a Thumb. I ordered it today. I like to support the little guy. The gentleman on the phone had to put down the welder in the shop to take my order. He promised same day shipping. :)

I will post some pictures when it arrives.

Welcome aboard! I installed the Thumb on my loader this summer and absolutely love it! It was the right combination of price, size and weight for my needs. So far I've been impressed with the quality and strength and I'm sure you'll like it just as much. Post pictures of the installation and first usage when you get it.

Oh yeah, I like to support the little guy also.

Would your 3400 lift a round bale but you felt the tractor was just a little light or would it not even lift the bale?

It would lift very light 4x5 if they were very dry and not really tight. It was all it could handle though. I got some really tight 4x5.5 and it would not lift them.
5x5,4x6 and 5x6 were out of the question.
Getting the bales as far back on the spike against the loaders piviot pins helps.
I just felt that pushing the tractor to its limits at all times was not the best thing for it. I am always wanting more though. I have the MX5100 now and wish I would of got a M6040.

Well the Thumb arrived to my door in less then two days. I odered Tuesday morning and it was on my doorstep today when I arrived home.
It was packaged in three boxes for weight? The thumb in one, #2 had the cylinder, and #3 the mounting bracket.

Now I just have to wait for my tractor to be done at the dealer. He said it would be done on Monday.

I need to figure out how I want to brace the bucket. Im thinking a piece of C channel across the top. That will give me a place to weld some hooks to as well.

The Green's Machine Thumb is great, have had mine for two years, also added a tooth-bar at the same time(something you might want to think about)
I have a L4240 with the HD bucket and had to put a piece of channel and roll it down to completely close.Welded a couple of nuts to the bottom so the thumb can be removed.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Looks like a sweet setup. Are there times when you find the thumb gets in the way of using the bucket?

Looks like the Green Machine Thumb works well on a bucket. I recently installed a Bro-tek Thumb on my Woods hoe on a L 2250 Kubota, it works like a charm. just finished a morning of cutting logs into billets, ready for splitting. The Bro-Tek Thumb cut my work time way down. In the past I would roll a log down off the pile, position it on two cutting logs then cut each billet half through, roll the log with a Kant hook then cut the other side. With the Thumb, I pick up a 25' + log, rotate the boom, lower the log to waist height then cut the billets. If you have any type hoe, go to Bro-Tek: Tractor Add Ons and check it out.

If I am going to be doing a lot of dirt work I remove the Thumb, only takes a few minutes;couple of pins and unplug the cylinder;leave the base on.

Thumb is great for moving logs,brush-work,large rocks ect.Only limited to what the tractor will pick.
