Seems to me a bumper which extends that far to each side gives up some of the short turning radius you could have when you get real close to a wall or tree. Or (with better grammar) you now need to turn sooner so the bumper doesn't hit part way through the turn.

But the first thing I thought of when I saw that bumper, was similar to Gary's reply. A new owner asked how big a sapling his rotary mower could shred. Somebody answered "anything you can get the front axle over". :D

I think the reason some people can see that CL post and others (me) can't is because those who saw it early still have the page in their browser cache. I'll bet if you do a Refresh it will disappear. I've had a problem with this when I was trying to edit my own CL post and what I saw was outdated compared to what I just submitted.

Yea thats the tractor I'm looking at. He says he has that one and a larger jd. He says he has lost his job and needs to sell the yanmar. Seems backward to me but whatever. The reason the link doesnt work is he took it off cs. I told him that was fine but I was not guaranteeing anything until I gave it a good look. May be a wasted trip but will not know till I go. I'll let you guys know after lunch (except you lefties with the crazy time zone). Thanks for the help.

don't worry about that front bumper:D it'll be coming off anyway if you have a FEL installed:thumbsup:
be sure to check that the lift works good, will indicate having a good strong pump;)

yahoo I'm in the Yanmar family. Battery was weak but pumps are strong, steering tight, brakes good, fluids good, lights and guage works well the fender lights dont and one tire with a little cracking but thats about it. I unloaded it and bush hogged a small corn patch. Now the work starts with changing fluids and ordering a fel. Thanks all of you.

Good Deal !!!! It won't take awhole lot to get it cleaned up.
And on the front wieght and bumpers. I would have to agree on length with Cal. That is why I decided to load it up with lead. It ended up fairly heavy and only takes two nuts to remove it. The best thing it was Free. All I had to do to collect enough lead was to go Fishing:p.

I gave 2700 for the tractor and bush hog. Oh and the cutter was heavy duty not a cheapie. I dont know if it was a great price but I feel good about it. Gauge says 407.4 and the guy says he put gas in it 2 yrs ago when he bought it of course who knows if thats true. The tractor looks to be in good shape.
