Many add a 'float' over the contents to prevent evaporation.
Water for water based and thinners for oil based.

In other words the appropriate solvent.

I would not use something as abrasive as sandpaper. Usually the terminals are tinned. Sandpaper will remove the tin and encourage rust.

Maybe lightly use a small rat tail file?

Ken

Now wait a minute. You tell him NOT to use an abrasive, then advise him to use a file?????? Lightly or not it will have the same effect.

I don't remember reading in this shop tricks,But anyways,to save a blister on the palm of my hand or a 80 mile trip to town to get a saw file handle,I just cut a peice of old broom handle or any wooden dowel to use 4inch chunk ,then drill a hole to put the power file into, then round the other end with the bench grinder.I learnt that that from my late father.Sure it works no worries to saw file out of my south paw. just my :2cents: :drink:cheers:
,Golf balls make perfect file handles.
I drill a small pilot hole in them and hammer the file in it,they can be re used time and again.

:Done spot i worked the boss took the pails cut the bottoms out staked them to getter and made a conna tub and it will work for a culvert too if deep enough but but in the right direction to the water
I stack bottomless 5 gallon pails inside each other with a short chain on both sides to the next one to make flexable unloading funnels for grain augers, one can make them as long as needed.

When painting from a gallon can, and you do not expect to use the whole can. When the can is first opened, run a strip of masking tape around the rim of the can (lid removed) covering at least 180deg of the entire opening. When new, the tape will seal on the inside lip, and outside is always a good seal.
Now pour your paint into the gun, paint roller tray, whatever. When done, wipe all excess off and remove the masking tape. The groove for the lid is free and clear and will seal up like new.

To fill those PIA places with oil like transmission on cars rears etc.
Go to the drug store and by an enema bottle fill with the correct amount of oil put the hose in the port that needs oil loosen the clamp and let her flow!

BTW I would label the bag for shop use only!!!!!!!:confused2:

And for my shop tip, I just figured out this weekend that an air chisel is the best thing for chipping welding slag. Use light pressure to chip the slag head-on, and bear down with a very shallow angle to pop off the nearby specks. Even the big blobs pop right off.

Run over everything with a wire brush cup on an angle grinder to clean everything up for painting.

Regards,

- Just Gary
Needle scaler. Takes off slag and peens surface relieving pent stress.
