Ray,

I actually set out to design those flip over pads, if you could get a pic send it to me so I can take a good look at it. They wont be hard to make, I know that.

Someone was asking if it made the machine any wider, and the answer is yes it did by about 4" total, 2" per side. Not much of a change for a more stable back-hoe in my opinion.

I have some other tricks up my sleeve for this machine, I just need the time to sit down and engineer them!

Glad you guys like the creations.

I am also been thinking about adding some sort of mod to add soft pads for asphalt or someone pretty lawn.
I was able to get a couple of old truck retreads off the side of the interstate. I then cut off a couple 2X6's, bolted them in to the stock pads using carage bolts, countersink the head from the bottom, then I cut the treads to fit (sawzall are the steel ribs are tough, use gloves too) and placed on the bottom of the boards. I forget what I used to keep em on, it may have been liquid nails, but they save the pavement and concrete. I use wing nuts for quick on and off. It does walk some, but its better than the damage from unprotected pads.
Be sure to place the bolts far enough out on the pads so the wing nut does not interfere with the articulation of the hinge point. It was a cheapy, but goody!

I just use a pair of 2x6's under the outriggers and it seems to keep them from sinking in.
