PTO Problem with Allied/Farm King

Ok OK OK....I'll admit it....I screwed up when I asked if you had ever cut a shaft. Sorry.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I understand.

I wish Ken Sweet would re-appear so that we could hear from his experience. Sounds like he was left out of the loop as well.

Scaper...More power to you. I wouldn't want to pay for the right shaft either.

You are right. It is wrong.!!

I am in the loop, I am anticipating a memo from Buhler/Farmking about specific applications for the PTO on the 50 inch blowers. The hitch has a adjustable (in and out) hitch so I really looking forward to how they address this issue. Ken Sweet

Ken thank you for speaking up. I think you and I had quite a nice conversation today on the phone and I do believe you live by alot if not all those principals I stated. We both value the board members here very much as stated during our conversation. I hope that Allied /Farm king and the company upper echelon I have received this information from, do what's right. You as a dealer have a much better opportunity than I do to see first hand how they handle this or the lack of concern they show. I will state this, that one of their managers has promised me that he will get this PTO shaft incident taken care of for me. Praise God and pass the PTO shaft!! I think I got through to them. Thanks to all for listening to the rants of an old member. Scaper

Look folks I'm going to list this in order'
1, Company says can't be cut.
2, Company says will void the warranty
3, Manufacture (Weasler says three part weldment type of shaft.) can't be cut! If it were to be done no warrenty and special equipment that I don't have would be needed.
4, Farm King says we do have a shaft that is cutable for this reason (Subcompact Tractor) this is what you need F621.
5, Farm King says We know there is a problem with fitment of the shaft our dealers may not be aware of this problem. We need to better communicate this to our dealers.
6, I'm not a fool I do know equipment and I have been cutting shafts as needed for 40 plus years.
7, I'm honest and straight forward and I don't take any crap.
8, I believe in what I was taught as a young man, Stand up for yourself, Do it right the first time, If you do something wrong have the balls to admit it, Learn from your mistakes, Be honest with yourself and your friends. Honor your parents and God and Defend those who can't defend themselves. Scaper

The owners manual that Greg G posted says that a F512 shaft is (50 " snowblower PTO shaft) and F621 is (Optional long PTO for 50" and 60").

Your problem is that the F512 you have is too long so dealer tells you that you now need the optional extra long PTO? And pay xtra $ for it too!

Also, from what you've said, the F512 is not cuttable because it is "special" (3 part weldment) but the F621 is cuttable? So, you need to get the optional extra long shaft just so you can cut it down to the right length. Am I understanding this right?

I looked at the Weasler site and couldn't find anything that looked particularly special about any of their PTO shafts. What I (and probably others) are having trouble understanding is what is unique about this F512 shaft that makes you believe it is not cuttable? Can you please describe. I'm really curious to know.

The F512 has a zerk fitting 1 1/2" from the end maybe 2" at most on the female side this is the 3 part welded side. The F621 is to long yes. But this shaft doesn't have a zerk fitting you have to greese it by hand. The shaft can be cut to length so I do need the F621. I know that it doesn't make sense but this is what I need to make it work acording to the company. F621 too long "Yes", can it be cut to proper length "Yes." Scaper

That's the first we've heard of the grease zerk.:confused2:

Why didn't you post about the zerk from the start.??

Maybe the masses will understand your predicament now.

Well, yes and no. I'd cut the shaft, then drill/tap a new zerk location. I'm startin' to think this thread is less about the shaft issue than it is about the OP.

Scaper....Have you ever needed to cut a pto shaft.??

I can honestly say in 30+ years of running farm equipment I never had to cut a single PTO shaft. But then I was also dealing with farm tractors and not lawn mowers on steroids LIKE sub cuts.

Well here's the deal. greg g you can think what you want make's no differance to me at all, oldnslo not all of us need fram equipment, this isn't about me it's about a company not doing whats right for their dealer network and their customers bottom line. Like I said I don't bend over for anyone so I'm going to push the issue. As far as the zerk maybe that would have explained the issue for those that aren't aware of this shaft but that wasn't the main problem. Have a nice day, Scaper
