Lost the key...

Thanks!

I found your key. Now I got me a tractor "Evil Laugh".

I lost my house and truck keys last week. I had them in my dads van when I followed him in with it to have tires changed. I set the keys up on the cup holder. I looked all over that van for my keys. No Luck so I broke the lock to get in my camper.

Turns out next day after all that my brother found them in the pouch on the side of the rear passenger door where he had put them.

My Deere has a pair of bright orange key heads, have never lost one because I almost never take the key out. I wonder sometimes if we would have fewer tractor thefts if the keys for our machines had those electronic chips in the key themselves, as most cars do today. I have read that replacements for those keys with the chip can cost hundreds of dollars.

I don't think CUT thefts are a big problem. And, you're correct about the cost of those chipped keys...$$$ (my Nissan Frontier has a chipped key...about 80 bucks to get a spare).
Industrial equipment such as backhoes, frontend loaders, etc. might be a different story. The cost of those machines, as well as the easy access at a construction site, might make chipped keys a worthwhile addition.

The worst place to find a key after you've spent a long time looking for it, is right in your hand.

Don't ask how I know....

I never remove my tractor key.
I am however going to wire the key to something under the dash.
Prevent losing it if the key pops out.

I would like a toggle switch in my half ton.
I hate having to duck into the house for a set just to move the truck 8 feet.

Which parking lot? I could use a kubota.:laughing::laughing:

I don't need a Kabota, I've got a Massey.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

It's not a good idea to hang my ring of keys on my motorcycles, my tractor, or my snowmobile,in case they fall off, so I put a small ring on each of these and keep them on my main ring with a quick attachment. I make sure they go on there as soon as they are removed from the machine.

My dad's old Ford only required a key to start. Wish I would have know this before I lost my father's keys.

I know this wasn't a key, but I was in the local JD dealer last week and picked up a cell phone that was laying on the floor. Apparently someone in the owners office had dropped it. I took it home and it wasnt too awful long a friend of the phone's owner called it and I answered it. I told him I wasn't who he thought I was lol! Took a him a bit to catch on after I splained what had happened. He volunteered to drive to meet me, pick up the phone, and deliver the phone to it's rightful owner. Sounded like a pretty good friend to me!

As for keys, I already have acquired one spare key. Hope I don't need another one!!! :)

I put a short length of para-cord on my JD key and a plastic snap on the other end. The cord goes around the steering column and snaps.

The key always comes into the house and is always hanging on the hook with the other stuff. No losses............ Yet........ (knock on wood)

However, does anyone know where I left my 3/8" drill ?
Wyo
