I too have a 673 that I bought with my new tractor last Fall. It is a fabulous machine. For me it was an extravagent expenditure, but what the heck, you only go around once.

Since you can get it at for a good price. Buy it and don't look back.

Ken Sweet knows who makes the tillers, he was trying to be coy.

No I really don't know. At one time, I am pretty sure Sicma was making the tillers and then I saw KK Rep post that Maschio was making them. Now I am confused and I still don't know who makes them? Ken Sweet

The dealer is telling me that it is a 57" frontier tiller, I am actually getting $700 off with the coupon from the John Deere game. (Another $100)

Tom,
Both of these are good tillers just make sure you get one with a slip clutch. I have used the 673 Deere tiller enough to say it has lived up to my expectations. I would think the 655 is just right for your rig, make sure the Frontier model is similarly built.

FWIW, you can look up the 673 in JD parts, can you look up the Frontier?

Yes it does have a slip clutch and 6 tines per flange. The dealer didn't even mention a regular john deers model? I didn't know there was a real difference?? I guess I could ask him.

The answer is both Sicma & Maschio make tillers that are sold under the JD & Frontier marketing labels.

They are basically the same tillers painted green except when Deere has them made for their iMATCH quick hitch.

So, are we to gather, that First Choice, Phoenix, Sicma, John Deere, Frontier, Bobcat and Kioti are all basically produced by Sicma in Italy? Ken Sweet

My dealer told me that Machio makes the 673 tiller, Woods Gannon makes the BB1284 hydraulic scarifier box blade, Tuffline makes the 1508 pull type disc. I am sure there are others out there making different implements.

I am really close to pulling the trigger on a john deere 2520 and was looking at the frontier tiller, I can't remember if it was a 48" or 55" but I can get the tiller for $600 of with the John Deere special going on. I am just wondering if it is a quality unit worth $1600 (Normally around $2100)??? I am holding off on the mower deck right now and just getting the FEL for it. Looking to fill the rear tires and add chains to the rear. Thanks!!!!

I bought a 3038 with the Frontier RT1160H tiller. It is a quality unit that I am well-pleased with.
