I need a compact tractor

somebody please tell me where to buy it. Used is my preference but I want one in really good shape. That or super cheap...yeah yeah i know...

I live in Phoenix. So many scams on craigslist i about gave up on that. Does anyone have a tractor within 500 miles of me that i can take a look at. Start by photos on the net.

I like the kubotas B series but would consider the bx series with a bit of convincing

John Deere? Or other comparable?

Any help, or suggestions for a first time tractor buyer would be most appreciated. I started the other post about HST Or Manuel and I am convinced i would be happiest with HST. I will consider anything though.

I need the loader and would love to have a BH but probably can't afford one of those. I can add a gannon. So basically if you have anything for sale please let me know so i can consider it...Thanks much.

And dont give up on c-list. The only scams are the ones that are TOO good to be true. Like the ones selling a $15,000 tractor for $2000.

Have you checked the area dealers? Bingham's looks like one local Kubota-Bobcat-New Holland - Case dealer whose website shows a good number of used listings. Don't know anything about them. I would also check the local Deere dealers for starters, as well as any of the other brands in the area. Although Arizona may not look like traditional farming/ranching country, I think you've got some pretty respectable agricultural operations going on, so there should also be a market for new and used ag equipment.

mostly landscaping, moving gravel, some 100 rocks, digging into a wall and removing dirt to spread around on the rest of the place. scraping a driveway to pour concrete, doing the same to lay pavers.

That type of thing. Lots of leveling to do.

sounds like scut or mid cut sized.. say 18-29hp range to me..

too much bigger and you loose maneuverability for landscape projects.

In that price range, I'd really start looking at a new SCUT (if that would fit your needs)..A tractor and FEL isn't a ton more than that new and you get the warranty, sometimes 0% finacing and full knowledge of it's prior history.

A lot has to do with patience. If you take the time, the deal will eventually appear. I looked at new and used for over a year, almost purchasing a new 2320 with loader for around $15 thousand. I eventually found the 955 with 800 hours 2 miles from my house for $9 thousand. More tractor, more hp, better built.

There are a lot of nice used tractors out there in the $12 thousand range. I agree not giving up on Craigslist. I see 20-30hp Deeres,Kubotas, and NH with loaders in that range all the time.

I agree with LD1, the scams on CL are the ones that have a ridiculously low price! I picked up my 04-790 w/loader & finish mower last Spring for $11,500, 385 hrs. off CL about 2 hr drive from home. Took a while looking, but most of what I found were two states away. ~~ grnspot110

Just search on tractor dealers in your state or the next state and view there listings. Worth a try. Lots of big farmming country around you in state or next state. Or check local equipment adds that are in convenience stores and grocery stores.

As other have said, Craigslist can be a pain sometimes but I got **** of a deal on there. I bought a 1989 JD1070 with JD80 FEL and a Frontier BB for
$8200. It's got a ton of hours on it (5100) but starts right up and has given me zero issues.

you just have to know what your doing dealing on craigslist.yes theres some scams on there.but there can be scams in your local paper.the last time i bought reg beefmasters,they was bought off craigslist.an i didnt get stung buying them.

I found mine on tractorhouse. Took 10 months of searching.
I needed more tractor than I had money. But patience paid
off.
Only concession I had to make was GST instead of Hst.
No regrets - love my tractor.
