Anybody using Amsoil diesel oil in kubota?

Go to a junk yard and ask the junkyard owner how many vehicles are there because the vehicle owner ran a cheaper motor oil. The answer wiil be Zero ;)

No kidding. Every junkyard around here buys there vehicles after they've been creamed in a wreck. I really doubt a sludged up engine caused any of the wrecks. However, I assure you that you'll find plenty of sludged up engines in every junkyard.

I have used amsoil since mid 1990 and it works. People on here will play the API deal etc..I like it since the tech dept is great unlike Mobil...

Does anyone need a synthetic? Some do some do not. This Amsoil debate on this forum goes back about 13 years I can remember on here...

Yep the last 130K on my ranger were mostly (90% say) run using Walmart Supertec and the dreaded Fram filter or the Walmart version of it before i think STP started making their filters.

That could work for you but would / is Amsoil better..Pull a UOA, get a good baseline and 99% will say yes it is.

Walfarts super tech is over priced now. It was like $13 2 years ago.. Noticed it today at 17.97...too much for me (as a grp 3)

I've never run amsoil in any engine I own, and probably never will, and I have never had a single oil related problem. No blown oil pump at 30k miles as reported on amsoil oil by someone. So by the usual logic here, this proves the oil I am using is better...

Not saying amsoil is the best but I DO like synthetics in general because I've read enough research to be convinced they are more stable, less subject to high temp shear and breakdown, have better low temp flow characteristics, and pretty much all high performance race cars, jets, etc use them. I don't suspect those people would be using synthetics if they weren't a better product.

I believe synthetics were actually invented by the ****'s in ww2 to combat their tanks dieing at the russian front during winter. An airforce general (according to the amsoil lit) then co founded amsoil which had originally been developed for use by in jet engines. From there they just expanded the product line but it would appear the development engineers know a little about synthetic oils. I use them because they have a wide range of products tailored made to my tractor, car, motorcycle, polaris ranger.

Anyway the products aren't THAT expensive and oil IS pretty integral to the longevity of any engine, so why cheap out on it? Seems penny wise and pound foolish IMHO.

Sadly, most of the oil recommendations we read on these forums are anecdotal in nature; that is, they are based on small amounts of data that are not statistically significant, nor are they based on controlled tests comparing one product with another. That sort of information is very difficult for the consumer to obtain. Controlled comparative tests are run by oil companies, vehicle and engine manufacturers, and a few petroleum additive companies using standardized test protocols, but the results are not generally published, except to say that an oil passed the minimum test requirements. Consumer Reports last ran an oil performance test a few years ago, carefully measuring engine wear. I don't recall whether they compared mineral oils vs. synthetics, but they did show that there was no difference in engine wear between changing engine oil at 3,000 miles and at 12,000 miles.
Based on published reports I considered reliable, I starting using synthetic oils about 7 years ago, in all of my new engines and vehicles, including small engines. I use conventional oils in my older engines with higher wear and leaks. For synthetics, I'm using Mobil 1 in some engines, and Castrol Syntec in others.
Other products that I believe work well ( although my data is here again anecdotal) are Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner, Marvel Mystery Oil as a top cylinder oil, Rislone oil additive for noisy hydraulic valve lifters, and any one of several automatic transmission "miracle worker" additives, which seem to actually have worked in perhaps three or four cases to free up stuck valve bodies.
I'm considering starting to use a gasoline preservative additive for stored gas. Sta-bil claims to have 70 endorsements, but looking online I don't see detailed statements from any company I recognize or trust, and I used to work in the petroleum additives industry, selling directly to the oil refineries. However, Briggs and Stratton has their own brand of stablizer, and I do trust them to have done their homework. The oil companies call most aftermarket additives " mouse milks" , and will tell you that most of them probably won't hurt your engine, but they will certainly empty your wallet. And as for any oil brand that won't submit to standard API or ASTM testing procedures, they're hiding something. Probably that " something" is that their oils sell for a premium, but the performance is the same as less expensive oils.

  My point was that cars in junkyards are almost always there because they've been wrecked. The junkyard owner wouldn't know even if they had any oil in them. I fail to see your logic there. Now you've really lost me. I don't see any logic in your response.

Sorry i did not mean i was using SYn oil in it. The Walmart Syn is overpriced. I am using regular dino oil in it for >$11/5qt jug. The ranger has to many oil leaks and burned way to much oil sine i got it for me to justify putting Syn in it. Same reason with the saturn, its a gm and burns to much to justify it.

Really enjoy the posts here. Always good advice and banter. I just put Mobil One SYN in my 3010 'cause the starting RPM is higher than petro oils allow when it is cold.
One guy mentioned his FRONT AXLE oil change????? I'm new to "tractorin'.." My 'bota is a 4X4....what and when do I change that oil/fluid?
Thanks Guys......BTW, we have ALWAYS used synthetic in JETS cause it gets REALLY cold up there....:D
