I have amsoil in everything except the shelby GT500 because they dont make a 50wt oil. Fourwheelers, snowmachines, generators, cummins truck, jetta tdi, chainsaw mix, everything. WHat I recommend is let the motor get broke in a little. On my truck, I put on 10,000 miles of hard 24k trailer weight in the mountains before I switched. If you dont, the rings wont seat. I have 10 hours on my new 5740 and will not change until 100 hours. By then the rings should be set. That is what I was told from my pops who runs synthetic but not amsoil.
Not trying to argue, but i think this is a common misconseption with syn oil. If this were actually true why would manufactures use Mobil 1 (not a plug for it, its just what they actually use) as a factory fill in many different models. I know for a fact that chevy puts it in the corvette, the what use to be trailblazer SS, its put into some mercedes upper line vehicles, and i think the high dollar cadilac has it in it.
You statement would mean that the rings on all these vehicles will never seat since they have Syn oil in them from the factory and mile 1. You think all these vehicles have blowby and smoke and are down on power? Next time you see a vette thats 5 years or less ask him what oil he runs, im sure it will be syn, and then ask him when he "changed" over from regular oil.
Walmarts regualar price on any weight of Mobil 1 is $24.50 (5 qt jug), sometimes i beleive they will "rollback" a dollar or two off that as well.I read the Corvette, must have synthetic oil in it to lubricate the fine tolerances. Plus Mobil 1 can be bought on sale at TSc for about $5.00 a quart here. I have used it for years in my Toyotas. Jy.
