I have been using one on my B7800 this year for the first time, only because it is on and I have not built the devise I have been planning for. It works OK because I can vary the bite both forward and reverse with the top link, just as you do in the other seasons. It is limited in the amount of snow you can collect with out it spilling out all over.

I think the best set up will depend on your situation, meaning the type and amount of plowing, and the amount and type of snow. I just bought a front mount plow for my 3030 from a contractor. He used his 3030 for commercial snow removal and exclusively at a hospital for clearing walkways etc. His operator preferred to use a box blade and the loader, so he was selling the plow. A Kubota front mount with hydraulic angle. The box blade (no scarifiers) had 2-3 inches worn off the leading edge of the side plates.

I use a box blade, and push in reverse. I just get a big pile going, and periodically swing it off the driveway. I had an 8' rear blade in the past, and it is nice to be able to angle the snow, but the box blade works fine too, just take a little longer.

When I mentioned 'it compresses snow', or whatever I said, I meant it holds alot more than you would think. It comes out real easy when you back up and lift it.. pulling foward with it works great. I think that's what Greg meant too.

Got snow last night, about 4 inches. Tried the box blade going through 1 foot drifts works great. In the higher stuff lower FEL to make a path with box blade down, got stuck a couple of times. Just lifted box blade and walk out of snow. Less passes needed so I am pleased with the results.

Since this discussion was going on, I decided to try to calculate how much foward pull I could do with the box blade today. Seemed I could go about 40-50 feet in 8" snow, in the driveways, before it spilled out too much. Side slope in the yard where I move the firewood was a little more difficult, did some sliding there..

Looks good, maybe a bit large, but I was thinking that box would be sweet if you could mount it to your loader in place of the bucket, then you could move some snow!

I was thinking the same thing about the size after I built it. I was just using scrap material I had laying around. I am glad now of the size because it comes in handy when moving snow. Sides of the boxblade are 26 inches high and it is 54" wide. Gathers up alot of snow and makes snow clearing time alot faster.:D
