I was out clearing my driveway - everything working fine. I went to back up and use my 3pt snowblower and the engine quit. I thought my leg might have hit the key. But now I can't get the engine to turn over (no starter). It is like I am stuck in gear rather than N for starting. Though, it feels like I am in neutral. No indication of any issue before it shut down. Battery is good, no sign of blowing the engine. Doesn't seem like the starter not working and the engine shutting down in the middle of using it are related?????? Any suggestions - the tractor is now right in the middle of my driveway - blocking it! Thanks for the help. Jim

I assume that's a BX2360 or BX2660...
Try rocking the hydro pedal back and forth a bit. Also, make sure the PTO is disengaged. Either of these switches will disable the starter.

Sounds like the PTO switch or some other safety switch. Even if the PTO lever is in the off possition. Try moving it while starting. Thoses switches have to sometimes be adjusted.

THANKS!!!! It was the PTO. Guess I simply never thought of it - didn't know it had a safety switch on it either. There are times when this forum is VERY helpful. Jim

I guess I bumped the ignition key with my knee when I turned around to use the snowblower. Of course, everything goes through your mind.....frozen gas line, broken switch, bad solenoid etc etc. Nice when it is something as simple as being brain dead!

Don't feel bad, I've been there done that, once each of the first 2 years I owned it.

my PTO safety is very very sensative. and just the slightest touch while getting off the machine it shutters.. sometimes would cycle on a near shutoff/on scenario..
