How do I shut it off ;-)

I had a US mail order get lost from them, they re shipped it UPS, I got the part, installed it and about a week later here came the US mail part. I think that is when they quit using US mail and went to UPS. None of it was Hoye's fault and they were willing to pay shipping back to them for returning the part. They were some inexpensive rubber boots so I just kept them.

Most companies will not pay return shipping for a mistake if the part is not substantial.
I ordered a cat 1 toplink end from agrisupply. They shipped an end with the ball socket for the lower lift arms, the one where you cut of yours and weld this one on. I told them what i got and they said most likely we wont pay to ship that 5lb part back since it only has a reatial price of like $5. They said if i wwere close to a store they may send a truck buy to get it. That is the lat i heard about that and its still in a cabinet, incase i ever need it.

I hear so many horror stories, but i personally have never had anything lost just delayed by usmail. I send out hundreds of dollars worth of mail per year for work thru them. The strangest thing is that i can send a letter to say south ga and it get there in 2 days or less, but if it has a bad address why does it take 2 weeks to return?? seems like 2 days there and 2 days back, idunno?

On my second Yanmar I had to add a screen door spring to the governor arm to pull it to zero when the linkage was pushed all the way to zero.
I found a photo of the spring I added to my YM186D. This is looking straight down the right side of the radiator. (Front of the tractor is to the right). Now the tractor shuts off as expected when the throttle is moved to zero.

Related issue: behind the governor lever in the photo, there is a second smaller lever, barely visible. I wonder if that should have a fuel shutoff cable attached?

Can't tell from picture, turn it and see if it kills the engine.

the 14s pump has 2 levers, the larger outer one is the throttle and the smaller one behind it is the fuel shutoff. i will take a pic or 2 of it in the next few days.

On mine, it was the reason the engine would not shut down when the throttle was closed. Couple of drops of oil and it shut down fine. It can bind a little at the very end and of travel and if there is enough wear in the linkage cause the problem.

You might want to think about that. You are saying the FRICTION WASHER performed it's job better after you lubed it:confused:?

Yep. Now it's smooth and lets the linkage travel the full length to shut off the fuel and still holds the throttle in position. All the oil did was even out the amount of friction from one end to the other. Oil doesn't remove friction, just lessens the amount.

same here, i sprayed mine i think it was with silicone spray and much smoother and shut down with a simple push forward without ramming it. its probably been 18 months or more since i did it now.

. Winston, the bad part about that and Hoye is that they will only ship UPS, so if you cant find anything else you want it will cost you something like $10 to get that $2 part. I have complained on other posts about this and i think Aaron said something about only shipping UPS, but i cant remember

For around the last year we have been offering postal priority shipping on orders under $10. It is automatically an option on our website and available by request if you call in. We figure that when the order gets lost or a customer gets tired of waiting we can afford to reship if under $10. It is not uncommon to take several weeks to get delivered even with priority and by then the customers are angry and we end up just reshipping by UPS. It is a mess. :(

I've had better luck recently with USPS than with either Fed-Ex or UPS. It took 30 years for Fed-Ex to figure out where I lived.
UPS used to be great- delivered to my door. Then they started tossing my stuff in a snowbank 1/4 mile + from my house on a busy road. No warning- no communication- can't contact them... no phone #, no computer links..... NOTHIN'
I finally stopped the driver on the road and let them know I was extremely unhappy. I've always liked the drivers... I'll bet it was a bull cr@p management cost cutting decision. If I had a choice, I chose USPS.
UPS seems to have straightened out their act. I'm sure I wasn't the only one getting the shaft.
