3 bottom plow question

On mine the pin would almost go through, but the lock pin wouldn't go in, so I took a grinder and cut a notch in the hitch ball on the 3 pt arm, and notched the bushing also.

Took less than 30 minutes

I like your solution on that type set up.

And if a person was inclined to do a little welding that pin could be lengthened just a bit.

Yup I'd just slide some tube on the pins and either weld on or have drilled out to slide a roll pin in the Cat 1 pin hole and a new hole further out.

How big of tractor is it going on? I've found my little Cat 1 plow can't be aligned properly with my larger tractor. The plow isn't wide enough to get the line of draft right.

Is this a ford 101 plow? I have one also anyone know where you can get any parts?

I got my shins, shares, and bolts at a John Deere dealer for a Ford 101.

A New Holland dealer may be an even better place since they may have taken over the Ford production years ago.

The offset in the plow drawbar is adjustable. It is used to make your plow run in the center of your draft line of your tractor by turning the tail end of the plow left or right, thereby increasing or decreasing the amount of bite the plows take as they travel through the ground. It should help, say a 14 inch plow take a 14 inch bite beside the furrow you just plowed without having to use chains or sway bars to hold the plow in the center of the tractor.

Hello all...
I bought an old ford 3 bottom plow that is in great shape. One problem.... The pins are cat 1 and my 3ph is cat 2. I have used bushings in the past but the cat 1 pin is too short and won't fit through my cat2 arm in 3ph... This is not a removeable pin it looks to b cast as part of the main frame, if that makes sense.

Anyone else ever encountered this and if so how did you correct the problem... It seems to me the only way to get it to work is to cut off the pin on the plow and weld a new one on that is the correct size.

Thanks in advance.

I had one of those plows and had the same problem. I just hacksawed a bushing a little shorter so the pin would fit into the hole. I pulled it behind a 70HP tractor and it worked great. INHO those Ford 101 plows are the best ever made.

I got my shares at a new holland dealer who tried to get shins & landslides for me but couldn't find a supplier. Had another place looking with the same result. Found the shins at an antique tractor store. I believe farm king had them but the price was way up there. (They must have known parts are getting hard to find) The Landslides came from Ken Sweet who is a member here.

For 101 wear parts, try Leinbach.

Try these folks

Weise industries.
Osmundson manufacturing.

Neither will sell to you direct but they manufacture the parts.
They will direct you to a dealer.
